The FLYRA state meet scores four team races. Ruckel and Emerald Coast lead Public, Belen and Oak Hall lead Private, The Villages Charter and Cornerstone Classical lead Charter, and NEXT and No Excuses lead Club.
Florida middle school cross country team rankings by FLYRA division, week 9, season through October 19, 2026
The FLYRA state meet on October 30 and 31 scores four team races: public school, private school, charter school and club. These are the top 10 in each, boys and girls. Each list is its own virtual race, every team's top seven against the other teams in that division only, so points on one list do not compare to points on another. The statewide order is in our week 9 team rankings, and teams in the statewide ten keep that order here.
What moved this week: the qualifier meets. Tavares won New World and the Red Sea Central Florida championship, Ruckel won the Okaloosa County championship, the Hillsborough Harriers won the Bay Area championship, and Emerald Coast swept the Stingray Panhandle championship. No Excuses' New World loss to Tavares drops its boys behind NEXT and the Harriers on the club list. On the private school boys' list, Belen moves to the top.
Two teams on the private school girls' list, Oak Hall and All Saints', are built on high school varsity 5ks this fall. Their middle schoolers can enter FLYRA, and whether the schools bring a team is their call.
How to read it: each team's top seven, with the time each runner actually ran and, in parentheses, what that run projects to at the state meet. For a 5k, it is the 3K we project from it. When two teams in the same division have met with their full lineups since mid-September, the most recent finish decides.

How we ranked them
- Florida middle schoolers only, grades 6 through 8, every middle school race in the results database through October 19, with two-mile, 2.1-mile, 3,200-meter and 2,900-meter races converted to 3K. The 1.5-mile Gold Coast and ACC JV races count for finishing order only. Fifth graders, including ungraded kids who also run elementary races, are on the elementary lists only.
- Middle schoolers who race high school 5ks are in: each 5k is leveled for its course, then turned into a 3K figure using the middle schoolers who have raced both distances this fall.
- A runner scores once, for the team they have raced for most this fall. A club is Club, a school is its division, and a program's own division at last year's state meet stands where it raced one. Schools new to our results were placed by school type, district schools Public and parish schools Private. That is our classification, not FLYRA's.
- Team order: a virtual race inside each division, five score and six and seven push. A team that beat a higher-ranked team in their most recent meeting moves directly above it until they meet again. Meetings from September 12 and earlier no longer bind, except Ruckel over Tavares, which we kept. JV races are not meetings, and a loss by a team missing two or more of its top five is not held against it. When three teams have beaten each other in a circle, the oldest meeting drops. When results disagree, the most recent ones decide. Teams in the statewide top 10 keep their statewide order.
- Only 2026 races count. A runner who has not raced this fall is not ranked.
Statewide teams: week 9 middle school team rankings. Individuals by division: top 10s by division. Every result is in the Florida XC results database.
