January Marathons in Florida (2027)

By Darrin DeTorres · Updated November 5, 2026

What marathons are in Florida in January 2027?

Run Florida Run lists all 11 marathons scheduled in Florida for January 2027 on this page, from Ocala on January 2 to Celebration and Miami on January 31, with each race's date, city, start time, course type and registration link. January suits a 26.2-mile race in Florida because early-morning temperatures are among the coolest of the year.

  • Certified for a qualifier: the FTC Mary Andrews Marathon (Jan 16) and the Town of Celebration Marathon (Jan 31).
  • Biggest fields: the Walt Disney World Marathon (Jan 10) and the Life Time Miami Marathon (Jan 31). Both are sold out except for charity and waitlist entries.
  • Small and open: five US Road Running lap marathons and the two-day Gemini Springs race in DeBary, with 6- to 9-hour limits.

How do these January marathons compare?

Certification and time limits are as each organizer publishes them. "Not listed" means the race doesn't state a USATF course code; times from those races won't count toward a Boston qualifier.

New Year 26.2M, Ocala

Sat, Jan 2, 2027 · Ocala · 8:00 AM start

The first marathon of the year in Florida. US Road Running races are small, with one or two staff on site, no EMS on course, and water only at the lap start and finish area, so carry what you need between laps.

Walt Disney World Marathon

Sun, Jan 10, 2027 · Orlando · 4:30 AM start

The biggest January race weekend in the state, and the only one here with a 4:30 AM start. All six events are sold out, so the way in now is a charity team entry, which carries a fundraising minimum.

FTC Mary Andrews Marathon

Sat, Jan 16, 2027 · Hawthorne · 8:00 AM start

The only certified small-field marathon in January. The race caps the full and half at 215 runners combined, the course has seven turns in 26.2 miles, and parking is at Hawthorne Middle/High School, a short walk from the trailhead.

Medal Madness 26.2M, Orlando

Sat, Jan 16, 2027 · Orlando · 8:00 AM start

One of three US Road Running marathons on January 16. Water is at the lap start and finish area only.

Medal Madness 26.2M, Naples

Sat, Jan 16, 2027 · Naples · 8:00 AM start

The southwest Florida option for January 16, with the warmest weather of the three Medal Madness marathons.

Medal Madness 26.2M, Fort Pierce

Sat, Jan 16, 2027 · Fort Pierce · 8:30 AM start

The Treasure Coast race on January 16, starting 30 minutes later than Orlando and Naples.

Gemini Springs Marathon

Sat, Jan 23 and Sun, Jan 24, 2027 · DeBary · 7:00 AM start

A marathon on both days, so you can run back-to-back 26.2s. There are no shirts, bags or chip timing; finishers ring a gong and clock out. The 9-hour cutoff is the most generous of any January marathon here.

Viking 26.2M, Royal Palm Beach

Sat, Jan 23, 2027 · Royal Palm Beach · 9:30 AM start

The latest start of any January marathon in Florida. In Palm Beach County that means most of the race is run in late-morning sun, so plan your fluids.

Renegade Rehab Run

Sun, Jan 24, 2027 · Lecanto · 7:30 AM start

Second year for this charity race. Aid stations are at every mile, and proceeds go to deputies injured in the line of duty. Prices rise after January 10.

Town of Celebration Marathon

Sun, Jan 31, 2027 · Celebration · 7:00 AM start

The race most Florida runners pick for a Boston qualifier: flat, certified, with pace teams at many qualifying times. Online registration closes January 30 at 6:00 PM.

Life Time Miami Marathon

Sun, Jan 31, 2027 · Miami · 6:00 AM start

The biggest marathon in Florida, with the crowds to match. Registration has moved to Let's Do This and the race is in waitlist selections, so a charity team is the surest entry.

What is the weather like for a Florida marathon in January?

January mornings in Florida average from the low 40s in the north to about 61°F in Miami. The NOAA 1991-2020 normal low is 42.6°F at Gainesville Regional Airport, near the Hawthorne race, and 61°F at Miami International Airport, about 18 degrees warmer on the same date. Afternoon highs run from 67.1°F to 76.2°F.

Source: NOAA National Centers for Environmental Information, U.S. Climate Normals 1991-2020, monthly normals for the station nearest each race. Normals are 30-year averages; a single race morning can be 10 to 15 degrees off either way.

  • North and central races start colder. Hawthorne, Lecanto and Ocala average lows of 42 to 46°F, so bring a throwaway layer for the start.
  • South Florida stays warm. Naples, Royal Palm Beach and Miami average lows of 56 to 61°F and highs near 75°F, and the 9:30 AM Royal Palm Beach start runs into the warmest part of the day.
  • The forecast decides, not the calendar. Check it the week of the race and set your goal pace by the dew point.

How to choose and register for a January marathon in Florida

  1. Check the date against your training block. A January 31 race gives you a full 16-week build from early October; a January 2 race means peak weeks over Thanksgiving and the holidays.
  2. Confirm course certification if you're chasing a qualifier. Only FTC Mary Andrews (FL21006JK) and Celebration (FL25001JK) list a USATF code this month. See the Boston qualifying marathons guide for the standards.
  3. Compare cutoffs to your expected finish time. Limits run from 5 hours at Hawthorne to 9 hours at DeBary. Work out your finish time with the pace calculator and leave a cushion.
  4. Book lodging early for large events. Disney and Miami fill hotels months ahead. The small lap and trail races need no travel planning beyond the drive.
  5. Register through the official link in the table. Small races cap their fields (Hawthorne at 215 runners) and close online sign-up before race morning.
