Florida Class 4A boys cross country team rankings through three weeks: August 21-September 5, 2026
Flagler Palm Coast, Doral Academy, Columbus, Creekside and Lake Minneola all ran the Florida Horse Park on Saturday, in the same 75-team race, and finished second, fifth, seventh, eighth and ninth. Niceville won at Pace, Hagerty won at DeLand, Spanish River won the Dr. Garcia Bulldog Invite and St. Cloud won its own meet. For the first time this season most of this list has raced somebody else on it.
Nease has not. They ran Cecil Field on August 21, averaged 16:09.8, and have not raced since, and it is still the best number anybody in the class has produced. Lake Minneola is the drop of the week, from third to tenth, on a fifth man who finished 303rd in the class field. Doral and Columbus are on the list for the first time, St. Cloud is back in it, and Newsome and George Steinbrenner, sixth and seventh a week ago, are out. Spanish River won Dr. Garcia and is first out.
Starting this week a team is ranked on its whole season, with the most recent race counting most, and a meet it won never counts against it. The virtual race behind these scores contains only Class 4A teams, so a team's place here and on the statewide list can differ. As always, this is data plus judgment, and we will miss somebody along the way. A (P) beside a team means it has not put its returning five on a starting line and is entered on what they ran last November. How we sorted it out is at the bottom. The time next to each runner is what he actually ran in his most recent race that counts; the figure in parentheses is what it is worth at Cecil Field. A projected team's marks are its runners' 2025 state times.

3. Niceville: 306 points

Won the Pace Patriot Invitational with 42, 52 clear of Gulf Breeze: Bryant Olson 16:07.8, Sebastian Riemer 17:16.0, Brayden Riemer 17:35.4, Carson Jackson 17:46.3, Reid Sadowski 17:51.9, on a slow course. Three meets, three races with the same five. Olson is the No. 6 individual in Florida. The 1:39 behind him is what keeps this team third instead of second.
4. Hagerty (Oviedo): 315 points

Won at DeLand with 38 out of 20 teams: Nate Winslow 16:36.0, Camden Thompson 17:02.6, Reid Henson 17:10.1, Wesley Lizon 17:13.4, Elijah Lizon 17:34.2. That follows a win at Trinity Prep and a Spikes & Spurs run on opening weekend, three races with the same five, each better than the last. Fifth to fourth, three points ahead of Doral, and they have not raced anybody ranked above them.
5. Doral Academy: 318 points

Fifth at the Horse Park with 282, a dead heat with Gulliver Prep settled by the sixth man: Martin Fernandez 16:01.4, Rafaele D'Agostino 16:47.6, Joaquin Cogo 17:04.9, Pedro Rodriguez 17:05.0, Javier Parker 17:06.3. Eight days earlier they won the Pine Crest meet with 49, Fernandez first in 16:06.5 out of 406. That meet's results reached us after last week's list was built, so this is their first appearance, and a 1:03 spread puts them fifth straight away.
6. East Ridge (Clermont): 354 points

Did not race a varsity meet this week; a second group ran the Sunset Invitational. Axel Sallault 15:47.0 twice, at Cecil and at Whispering Pines, and the No. 8 individual in the state; Jonahel Vazquez 16:41.0 at Whispering Pines, Aubin Sallault, Watson Dunham and Anthony Murphy between 17:15 and 17:36. Twelfth to sixth, because the season blend of two races tightens a spread that was 3:32 on Cecil alone to 2:03. The four behind Sallault have not raced since August.
7. Columbus (Miami): 410 points

Seventh at the Horse Park with 335 in their first race, on a 0:47.2 spread, the tightest of any team in the class top fifteen: Nicholas Garcia 16:28.4, Lundin Steven 16:41.3, Valerio Rodriguez 17:07.0, Jose Luis Cordero 17:14.9, Xander Muchallah 17:15.6, with the sixth and seventh at 17:24 and 17:29. Seven boys inside 61 seconds. They beat Creekside and Lake Minneola in Ocala, and the race puts them seventh.

Won the St. Cloud Invitational with 55, Luis Rivera first in 15:43.5, three tenths ahead of Gabriel Harris, then Koda Harkema 17:00.7, Brody Ansbaugh 17:10.4, Carson Devlin 17:26.8 and Marcos Quinones 17:41.4. Three meets, the same five boys in every one, and every one of the five has improved from Jim Ryun to the Kowboy to Saturday. The virtual race has them tenth on a 1:55 spread. They are ranked on the body of work, ahead of two teams that raced each other in Ocala and have not raced them. Ninth a week ago, eighth now.
9. Creekside (St. Johns): 443 points

Eighth at the Horse Park with 371, one point ahead of Lake Minneola: Eli Scharf 16:23.5, Samuel Cassiani 16:39.5, Bryce Cunningham 17:04.3, Chase Petrick 17:25.2, Spencer Halasz 17:40.5, every one within a few seconds of Cecil Field. Eighth a week ago, ninth now. The season figure alone would have them 11th; the one-point win over Lake Minneola is a result, and it keeps them ahead of a team with a better average.
10. Lake Minneola: 404 points

The drop of the week, and it is one runner. Quentin Thompson was third at the Horse Park in 15:46.8, Jacob Kelly 16:28.7, Drew Sasson 16:33.0 and Matthew Lydiard 16:46.0 followed, and the first four finish 6-25-27-43 in the class field. Joshua Ping was the fifth man at 18:45.6, which finishes 303rd. The team was ninth in Ocala with 372, behind Columbus and Creekside, and the season now says tenth here. Close that fifth-man gap by a minute and this is a top-four team.

11. Spanish River, 405, won the Dr. Garcia Bulldog Invite with 57 over Jupiter's 68: Erik Moss 17:10.9 in his first race, Will Irby 17:05.0, Spencer Singerman 17:13.4, and a 0:49 spread, one of the tightest in the class. That course is priced at its more conservative reading; on the generous one they would be inside the top five here. First out, on two races. 12. Jupiter, 447, was second at Dr. Garcia, Matthew Ward and Titus Fike at 17:03. 13. Braddock, 483, was tenth at the Horse Park in its first race on a 1:00 spread. 14. Newsome, 492, was 13th in Ocala with Jonas Williams seventh in 15:58.3, and dropped from sixth.
George Steinbrenner was seventh a week ago and is 15th after finishing 15th at the Horse Park. Melbourne, 16th, has not raced since Indian River. Buchholz, 18th, has Andrew Sides's 15:49 from Cecil and nothing since. Wiregrass Ranch was tenth on a projection; they raced, 23rd at the Horse Park, and are 25th. Strawberry Crest, with Jaxon Kiper, is 43rd.
Where the virtual race disagrees with this list
- Columbus (Miami) over Lake Minneola: 7th and 9th at Horse Park. Lake Minneola has the better average by 14 seconds a runner and the virtual race has them seventh. Columbus beat them by 37 points on Saturday.
- Creekside (St. Johns) over Lake Minneola: 8th and 9th at Horse Park. One point, 371 to 372, in the same race. A result is a result.
- St. Cloud over Creekside and Lake Minneola. The virtual race has St. Cloud tenth, and they have not raced either team. Three meets with the same five, a win at their own invitational, and a season figure better than Creekside's: the body of work puts them eighth.
How we ranked them
- Every mark is converted to a Cecil Field equivalent through the runners who ran both that course and last year's state meet. The boys' field ran about a second slower in August than at state, and that is removed before a course is rated.
- Each runner is scored on his whole season, weighted toward the most recent race: this week counts three times, last week twice, opening weekend once. A race he won never lowers that figure, and a meet a team won never lowers the team's. A school's five best runners on that basis are its team.
- Those five, with a sixth and seventh where they exist, go into one virtual race against every other Class 4A team and are scored the way cross country is scored: top five count, sixth and seventh displace, five finishers required, low score wins. 112 4A boys teams cleared the bar; 2 of them are projections. Scores climb every week as more teams enter and are not comparable to last week's; compare the order and the averages.
- Where two teams in this class raced each other this week with at least three of their scoring seven, the team that won ranks ahead of the team it beat. Those moves are listed above.
- A team whose returning five have not raced is entered on last November's state times and marked (P). A returner who has raced for another school this season is not projected at the old one.
- Classes are 2026-27, resolved against the FHSAA classification documents.
- Dr. Garcia was priced at its more conservative reading. The generous one lifts Spanish River into the top five here.
