Nease's August five jogged the Buchholz JV race and is still ranked on Cecil, Columbus won King of the Hill with 22, Wiregrass Ranch was second at Astronaut, and East Ridge drops from sixth to out.

Florida Class 4A boys cross country team rankings through four weeks: August 21-September 12, 2026

Nease ran a second unit in the Buchholz varsity race, seventh with 187, while its August five ran the JV race together at 19:47. Neither result is scored, and Nease is still first on Cecil Field. Flagler Palm Coast and Hagerty sat. Niceville was on the line at Nights of Thunder when the varsity race was called off. Columbus won King of the Hill out of 29 teams with 22 points, five boys inside 17:29, and moves from seventh to sixth. Wiregrass Ranch was second at the Astronaut Invitational with 84, Avi Bhatia sixth in 16:57.8, and is seventh, up from outside the ten. St. Cloud is ninth over Creekside on a standing call. East Ridge, sixth a week ago, ran Astronaut with Axel Sallault winning and Aubin Sallault seventh, and then no fourth man under 20 minutes; the season figure weighted four to one against August drops them out of the ten entirely.

A team is ranked on its whole season, with the most recent race counting most, and a meet it won never counts against it. The virtual race behind these scores contains only Class 4A teams, so a team's place here and on the statewide list can differ. As always, this is data plus judgment, and we will miss somebody along the way. A (P) beside a team means it has not put its returning five on a starting line and is entered on what they ran last November. How we sorted it out is at the bottom. Races are not won until the kids have run. Enjoy.

About the times. The average on each line is the season figure the scoring uses, in Cecil Field terms. The times next to each runner are season figures too; the race log for every runner is on the rankings page.

The statewide lists: Week 4 boys team top 10 and Week 4 girls team top 10. The 4A boys individuals are here, and the week 3 edition of this list is here. The other classes this week: 4A girls, 1A boys, 2A boys, 3A boys.

Just missed

11. Lake Minneola, 417, has the fifth-best average in the class, 16:48.7, and a 2:54.6 spread, Quentin Thompson 15:43.0 up front and Joshua Ping 18:37.6 as the fifth; Creekside beat them by a place at the Horse Park. 12. Where the virtual race disagrees with this list

  • Creekside over Lake Minneola: 8th and 9th at the Horse Park, and neither has raced since.
  • St. Cloud over Creekside: St. Cloud over Creekside and Lake Minneola: same five in every race, won its own meet, body of work (Darrin, 2026-09-06)

How we ranked them

  • Every mark is converted to a Cecil Field equivalent through the runners who ran both that course and last year's state meet. The boys' field ran about a second slower in August than at state, and that is removed before a course is rated.
  • Each runner is scored on his whole season, weighted toward the most recent race: this week counts four times, last week three, week two twice, opening weekend once. A race he won never lowers that figure, and a meet a team won never lowers the team's. A school's five best runners on that basis are its team.
  • Those five, with a sixth and seventh where they exist, go into one virtual race against every other Class 4A team and are scored the way cross country is scored: top five count, sixth and seventh displace, five finishers required, low score wins. 114 4A boys teams cleared the bar; 2 of them are projections. Scores climb every week as more teams enter and are not comparable to last week's; compare the order and the averages.
  • Where two teams in this class have raced each other with at least three of their scoring seven, and neither has raced since, the team that won ranks ahead of the team it beat. Those moves are listed above.
  • A team whose returning five have not raced is entered on last November's state times and marked (P). A returner who has raced for another school this season is not projected at the old one.
  • Classes are 2026-27, resolved against the FHSAA classification documents.
