Rodbro, Seth, Cunningham and Michalak all beat him in Huntsville, and all four are above him. A sophomore, and in at tenth with Howdeshell and Kiper out.

Sixteenth in the Southern Showcase championship race in 15:27.6, three places behind Seth, and Niceville was sixth. Fifth at Cecil Field in 15:44.0, then wins at Pine Forest and Pace Patriot, the second in 16:07.8 on a slow course. Third to sixth: Sallault, whom he beat at Cecil Field, went past him on the Hawks on the Hill result over Thompson, and Seth beat him on Saturday. He is on top of the Nease pair because his Cecil Field result over Ishee stands and the five-second loss to Chopra there is the one result in the loop we let go; that holds until any two of the three race again.

Was on the line at Nights of Thunder when the varsity race was called off. 15:44.0 for fifth at Cecil Field, the Pine Forest win, and the Pace Patriot win in 16:07.8 by 20 seconds on a slow course, worth about 15:29. He is third: above Sallault because he beat him by three seconds at Cecil and neither has raced since, and below Thompson because Thompson beat him by 28 seconds in the same race. Sallault's season figure is now two seconds better than his.

His season is 15:44.0 for fifth at Cecil Field, a Pine Forest win, and the Pace Patriot win in 16:07.8 on a slow course, worth about 15:29 leveled. He beat Sallault by three seconds at Cecil, and that finish is the only reason he sits above a boy whose season figure is now two seconds better. They have not met since. The first time they do, the grass decides. Sixth to seventh, behind a boy who beat him by 28 seconds in the same race.

Three races, three better numbers. 15:44.0 at Cecil Field, a win at Pine Forest in 16:13.6, and a win at the Pace Patriot Invitational out of 165 in 16:07.8 on Saturday, 20 seconds clear of the field on a slow course, worth about 15:29 on neutral ground. He beat Sallault head to head at Cecil. A sophomore who was 15th in 3A last November and is now the second-best boy in 4A.

Three races, and the season adds up to sixth. Olson ran 15:44.0 at Cecil Field on August 21, won at Pine Forest in 16:13.6 a week later, and on Saturday won the Pace Patriot Invitational out of 165 in 16:07.8, 20 seconds ahead of Rocky Bayou's Dominic Ferguson, on one of the slower courses in the panhandle. That run is worth about 15:29 on neutral ground, the best of his three. He also has the one head-to-head that settles the next two places: he beat Sallault at Cecil Field, 15:44.0 to 15:47.0. A sophomore who was 15th in 3A last November, now in 4A after Niceville moved up, and the best runner in the panhandle by a distance.

Two races now: 15:44.0 at Cecil, then a win at the Eagle Invitational at Pine Forest in 16:13.6, which levels out to about 16:03, a normal second week rather than a step forward. The Cecil mark is what ranks him, the win is what a front-runner does on a Saturday. He slips two spots on other people's results, not his own.

Fifth at Cecil in 15:44, 26 seconds up on the 16:10.1 that made him 15th in 4A at state as a freshman. He was the second-fastest sophomore in the Elite field behind nobody at all in his class, and he beat Sallault by three seconds.

Niceville ranks tenth as a team but Olson is 72 seconds clear of his own second man, which is the widest front-runner gap on any ranked team in Florida.
