They were the preseason 4A favorite at 93 points, with seven returners at state — more than any team in the class. The projection is not generous: it prices them at exactly what they were last November, no summer improvement, no incoming freshman, while Niceville and Creekside get credited with what they actually ran in August.

Antunez-Perez at 18:49.1 would be fifth in this 4A field on a converted basis and Levy 12th. If that top two is intact, Spanish River is the best team in the class. Nobody knows whether it is.

Alba Antunez-Perez is one of the best runners in the state, and Makaela Morilla, Brooke Thunberg, Adriana Perrette and Lailani Levy are within 30 seconds of each other behind her. Second, where it was: Creekside's Bale-N-Trail win moved it four points ahead in the virtual race, and a team that sat out is not passed on a few points by a team it has not raced.
