Niceville never got its race at Nights of Thunder and holds first, Creekside is second on the best average in the state, St. Thomas Aquinas won King of the Hill with 32, and Beachside moves past Sunlake on the Horse Park.

Florida Class 4A girls cross country team rankings through four weeks: August 21-September 12, 2026

Niceville was on the line at Nights of Thunder when the varsity race was called off for lightning, so the Pine Forest run still ranks them and they are still first. Creekside did not race and is second on the best season average in Florida, 19:36.9, with a 2:22 spread. Spanish River is still a projection at third. Nease ran only its JV at Nights of Thunder and is fourth on Cecil Field. St. Thomas Aquinas won King of the Hill with 32 over Lourdes 3A, Elise Brown first by 74 seconds; the win is not held against them and they are fifth on Cecil. Beachside is eighth over Sunlake, which has the better figure, on the Horse Park finish, tenth to eleventh, with neither having raced since. Sarasota did not race its varsity and is tenth.

A team is ranked on its whole season, with the most recent race counting most, and a meet it won never counts against it. The virtual race behind these scores contains only Class 4A teams, so a team's place here and on the statewide list can differ. As always, this is data plus judgment, and we will miss somebody along the way. A (P) beside a team means it has not put its returning five on a starting line and is entered on what they ran last November. How we sorted it out is at the bottom. Races are not won until the kids have run. Enjoy.

About the times. The average on each line is the season figure the scoring uses, in Cecil Field terms. The times next to each runner are season figures too; the race log for every runner is on the rankings page.

The statewide lists: Week 4 girls team top 10 and Week 4 boys team top 10. The 4A girls individuals are here, and the week 3 edition of this list is here. The other classes this week: 4A boys, 1A girls, 2A girls, 3A girls.

1. Niceville -- 135 points

Season average 19:39.7 · 1-5 spread 0:19.5 · finished 21-22-28-29-35 in the class Won in week 3; that run is not held against them.

Riley Marise 19:32.4; Anais Almonte 19:32.5; Sophie Clapp 19:40.9; Harmony Holland 19:41.0; Lola Jackson 19:51.9.

Was entered at Nights of Thunder and the varsity race never ran. Three wins in three starts, and the Pine Forest run ranks them because the Pace win would lower the figure: Riley Marise 19:32.4, Anais Almonte 19:32.5, Sophie Clapp 19:40.9, Harmony Holland 19:41.0, Lola Jackson 19:51.9, a 0:19.5 spread that no other team in Florida is within 25 seconds of. First, by 21 points, and the Chiles rematch has now been rained out once.

2. Creekside (St. Johns) -- 156 points

Season average 19:36.9 · 1-5 spread 2:22.3 · finished 10-11-18-20-97 in the class

The best season average in Florida, 19:36.9: Eva Delaney 18:51.0, Emma Godfrey 19:07.7, Ivey Edgell 19:22.6, Hadleigh Roberts 19:30.0, and Elena Schultz 21:13.4 as the fifth, a 2:22.3 spread. Second at the Horse Park with 183 behind Bishop Moore 3A. Second, where they were, and the fifth runner is the whole gap to Niceville.

3. Spanish River (Boca Raton) -- 212 points (P)

Season average 19:53.1 · 1-5 spread 2:20.2 · finished 8-14-31-68-91 in the class

Alba Antunez-Perez 18:49.1; Lailani Levy 19:11.0; Makaela Morilla 19:43.3; Julia D'Emic 20:32.6; Olivia Downes 21:09.3.

Still a projection. Alba Antunez-Perez 18:49.1 and Lailani Levy 19:11.0 have not raced; the group that has was third at Pine Crest and second at Dr. Garcia. Entered on last November's five, and third on them.

4. Nease (Ponte Vedra) -- 291 points

Season average 20:22.2 · 1-5 spread 1:51.0 · finished 23-37-44-76-111 in the class

Lucia Misasi 19:33.0; Katherine Healey 19:55.0; Olivia Dhas 20:07.0; Ava Campbell 20:52.0; Emma Rodenkirch 21:24.0.

5. St. Thomas Aquinas (Fort Lauderdale) -- 297 points

Season average 20:13.8 · 1-5 spread 2:35.0 · finished 9-15-52-108-113 in the class · This week: 1st of 23 at King of the Hill (32). Won in week 4; that run is not held against them.

Elise Brown 18:50.0; Kendall Parrott 19:16.0; Charlotte Lee 20:17.0; Caoimhe McConville 21:21.0; Taylor Gold 21:25.0.

Won King of the Hill with 32 over Lourdes 3A's 57 on Thursday, Elise Brown first by 74 seconds in 19:15.7, Kendall Parrott sixth, Charlotte Lee seventh, Caoimhe McConville eighth. The course reads slow and the converted marks behind Brown were worse than Cecil Field, so the win is not counted and they are ranked on Cecil: Brown 18:50.0, Parrott 19:16.0, Lee 20:17.0, McConville 21:21.0, Taylor Gold 21:25.0. Fifth, where they were.

6. Doral Academy -- 304 points

7. Hagerty (Oviedo) -- 379 points

Season average 20:42.1 · 1-5 spread 1:42.9 · finished 32-58-66-105-118 in the class Won in week 3; that run is not held against them.

Madison Thompson 19:45.1; Briella Daly 20:26.1; Jessica Leon 20:31.9; Samantha Gartner 21:19.4; Julia Shemas 21:28.0.

Did not race. Wins at Trinity Prep and DeLand and second at Spikes & Spurs; the DeLand win is left out because that course reads fast and it would lower the figure. Madison Thompson 19:45.1, Briella Daly 20:26.1, Jessica Leon 20:31.9, Samantha Gartner 21:19.4, Julia Shemas 21:28.0. Seventh, where they were.

8. Beachside (St. Johns) -- 463 points

Season average 20:56.1 · 1-5 spread 2:35.8 · finished 19-48-102-136-158 in the class

9. Sunlake (Land O'Lakes) -- 396 points

Ana Cecilia Maia Menard 19:33.6; Ella Pope 20:08.6; Anna Connett 20:15.2; Jolynn Chen 21:33.5; Harshita Anne 21:55.1.

Ran the JV race at Nights of Thunder, which is not rated. Ana Cecilia Maia Menard 19:33.6 from Lecanto only, Ella Pope 20:08.6, Anna Connett 20:15.2, Jolynn Chen 21:33.5, Harshita Anne 21:55.1. Eighth in the virtual race, ninth here behind Beachside on the Horse Park finish.

10. Sarasota -- 396 points

Season average 20:42.6 · 1-5 spread 2:15.6 · finished 30-43-53-117-153 in the class Won in week 2; that run is not held against them.

Annabella Cicilioni 19:42.8; Marley Bowen 20:05.4; Jasmine France 20:20.0; Annabella Alger 21:26.4; Isabella Mendenhall 21:58.4.

Did not race. The Wellen Park win with 53 ranks them; the North Port win before it does not because it would lower the figure. Annabella Cicilioni 19:42.8, Marley Bowen 20:05.4, Jasmine France 20:20.0, Annabella Alger 21:26.4, Isabella Mendenhall 21:58.4. Tenth, where they were.

Just missed

11. Buchholz, 434, was third at its own meet with 91 behind Bishop Kenny 3A and Oak Hall 1A, freshman Morgan Outcalt ninth in 20:04.1, and has the tightest raced five in the class top fourteen at 1:13.0. 12. Boone, 506, has not raced since the Kowboy. 13. Bartram Trail, 522, has Avery Hartley at 18:13.0 and a 3:57.0 spread behind her; the JV ran Nights of Thunder. 14. East Ridge, 538, was ninth at Astronaut with 206.

Where the virtual race disagrees with this list

  • Beachside over Sunlake: 10th and 11th at the Horse Park, and neither has raced since.

How we ranked them

  • Every mark is converted to a Cecil Field equivalent through the runners who ran both that course and last year's state meet. The girls' field ran about half a minute slower in August than at state, and that is removed before a course is rated.
  • Each runner is scored on her whole season, weighted toward the most recent race: this week counts four times, last week three, week two twice, opening weekend once. A race she won never lowers that figure, and a meet a team won never lowers the team's. A school's five best runners on that basis are its team.
  • Those five, with a sixth and seventh where they exist, go into one virtual race against every other Class 4A team and are scored the way cross country is scored: top five count, sixth and seventh displace, five finishers required, low score wins. 105 4A girls teams cleared the bar; 3 of them are projections. Scores climb every week as more teams enter and are not comparable to last week's; compare the order and the averages.
  • Where two teams in this class have raced each other with at least three of their scoring seven, and neither has raced since, the team that won ranks ahead of the team it beat. Those moves are listed above.
  • A team whose returning five have not raced is entered on last November's state times and marked (P). A returner who has raced for another school this season is not projected at the old one.
  • Classes are 2026-27, resolved against the FHSAA classification documents.
