Niceville was second to IMG Academy at the Southern Showcase with five girls inside 40 seconds and stays first, Spanish River won the 4A scoring of its Race of Champions and moves to second, Sunlake won Nature Coast, and Boone is new to the ten.
Florida Class 4A girls cross country team rankings through five weeks: August 21-September 19, 2026
Niceville went to Huntsville and was second in the Southern Showcase championship race with 77 points, behind only IMG Academy's 34, in a 19-team field from across the South: Lola Jackson 18:56.9, Harmony Holland 18:58.2, Sophie Clapp 19:19.5, Anais Almonte 19:28.4, Riley Marise 19:36.1. Five girls in 39 seconds, and a 20-second spread on season figure that no other team in Florida is close to. IMG is an FHSAA Independent and does not run the state series, so inside Class 4A, Niceville is first and it is not close.
Spanish River won the Class 4A scoring of its own Race of Champions with 47, Alba Antunez-Perez first by 50 seconds, and the projection that had them third is gone; the raced five is better than the paper, and they are second. Creekside was third at the Katie Caples Invitational behind Bishop Moore 3A and Bishop Kenny 3A and is third. St. Thomas Aquinas, third in the 4A scoring of the Race of Champions and a winner at Markham Park, is fourth. Doral, second in the Race of Champions scoring, is fifth.
Sunlake won the Nature Coast Shark Invitational with 20 and moves from ninth to sixth. Nease was sixth at Katie Caples and slips from fourth to seventh. Boone won the Coach Joe McKinney Classic with 53 and is new to the ten at eighth, with Hagerty, second there by five points, ninth. Beachside was eighth at Katie Caples, two places ahead of Buchholz, and holds tenth on that result. Sarasota drops out. This is data and judgment, and somewhere on this page we are wrong about somebody.
A team is ranked on its whole season, with the most recent race counting most, and a meet it won never counts against it. The virtual race behind these scores contains only Class 4A teams, so a team's place here and on the statewide list can differ. As always, this is data plus judgment, and we will miss somebody along the way. A (P) beside a team means it has not put its returning five on a starting line and is entered on what they ran last November. How we sorted it out is at the bottom. 2. Spanish River (Boca Raton): 204 points

The course reads about 33 seconds fast for girls, and the five still level to an average within a tenth of Creekside's. Third a week ago on last November's paper; second now on a race, seven points clear of Creekside in the virtual race, and the two have not met.
3. Creekside (St. Johns): 211 points

Katie Caples reads about half a minute fast for girls, and the runs leveled slower than the Horse Park, where they were second with 183. The average is still the second-best in the class, a tenth better than Spanish River's; the scoring counts places, not averages, and has Spanish River ahead by seven. Second to third, and the fifth runner is still the gap: four girls inside 20:10 on the season, then 21:30.
4. St. Thomas Aquinas (Fort Lauderdale): 283 points

Third in the Class 4A scoring of the Spanish River Race of Champions with 142, Kendall Parrott third overall in 19:11.7 behind Antunez-Perez and Lewis, Taylor Gold 24th in 20:19.9, then Angelica Cardenas, Remy Coia and Caoimhe McConville; and won Week 3 at Markham Park with a perfect 15 against two other teams, Parrott first in 21:29.0 on a course that reads very slow for girls. The Markham win, like the King of the Hill win the week before, is not held against them. Elise Brown's 18:50.0 from Cecil Field still leads the five, and she ran neither meet this week. Fifth to fourth, on a 2:35 spread, with the Cecil Field figures doing the work.
5. Doral Academy: 301 points

6. Sunlake (Land O'Lakes): 303 points

Two places ahead of Buchholz in that race, and neither has raced since, so Beachside holds tenth on the result while Buchholz has the better virtual score. Eighth to tenth, on a 1:49 spread, and the third runner is the gap: two girls at 20:11 on the season, then 21:48.
Just missed
11. Buchholz, 482, was tenth at Katie Caples with 248, Morgan Outcalt 36th in 20:47, and sits behind Beachside on that finish with the better score. 12. Plant, 574, was third at the North Port Invite with 146 behind Berkeley Prep 2A and Estero 3A, Katherine Eudaly winning the race and Rylee Nelson eleventh in 19:23.9; two places ahead of Sarasota, and above it on the result. 13. Sarasota, 496, was fifth at North Port with 150, Marley Bowen 20th in 20:03.0, and drops from tenth. 14. Melbourne, 589, won the Bulldog Invitational with 34 on a course that reads nearly three minutes slow for girls, and the win is not counted.
Where the virtual race disagrees with this list
- Beachside over Buchholz: 8th and 10th at the Katie Caples Invitational, and neither has raced since.
- Plant over Sarasota: 3rd and 5th at the North Port Invite, and neither has raced since.
How we ranked them
- Every mark is converted to a Cecil Field equivalent through the runners who ran both that course and last year's state meet. The girls' field ran about half a minute slower in August than at state, and that is removed before a course is rated.
- Each runner is scored on her whole season, weighted toward the most recent race: this week counts five times, last week four, week three three times, week two twice, opening weekend once. A race she won never lowers that figure, and a meet a team won never lowers the team's. A school's five best runners on that basis are its team.
- Those five, with a sixth and seventh where they exist, go into one virtual race against every other Class 4A team and are scored the way cross country is scored: top five count, sixth and seventh displace, five finishers required, low score wins. 110 4A girls teams cleared the bar; 0 of them are projections. Scores climb every week as more teams enter and are not comparable to last week's; compare the order and the averages.
- Where two teams in this class have raced each other with at least three of their scoring seven, and neither has raced on a rated course since, the team that won ranks ahead of the team it beat. Those moves are listed above.
- A team whose returning five have not raced is entered on last November's state times and marked (P). A returner who has raced for another school this season is not projected at the old one.
- Classes are 2026-27, resolved against the FHSAA classification documents.
- Spanish River scored its meet by FHSAA class, so the scoring saw no team rows there; the 4A order of Spanish River, Doral and St. Thomas Aquinas already matched the figures and needed no call.
- IMG Academy won the Southern Showcase with 34 and is an FHSAA Independent, so it is named here and not scored.
- A meet a team won never lowers its figure: Niceville's week 3 win, Sunlake's week 1 win, St. Thomas Aquinas' King of the Hill and Markham wins, and Hagerty's DeLand win are listed and not counted against them.
