Her 18:57.0 from Cecil holds ninth, and her week gets interesting now: Creekside is entered at the Horse Park, where the team conversation matters as much as her own race. She was seventh in 4A at state, the ceiling is higher than the ranking, and Saturday is honest ground to prove it.

Seventh in 4A at state in 18:21.1 and tenth at Cecil in 18:57. That is 36 seconds off her November mark, seven seconds worse than the field average, which is a par opener rather than a bad one and not much to draw conclusions from either way.

She is the fastest runner on the third-ranked team in the state, and Creekside was the only 4A program to put two girls in the top 14 of the Elite race. Delaney's ranking here reflects a state credential that is better than her August evidence. The class is deep enough now that par is no longer enough to hold seventh.
