Week 6 Class 4A girls cross country team rankings for Florida: Niceville stays first, Spanish River holds second over a Creekside team that won Bale-N-Trail, and Hagerty keeps ninth.
Florida Class 4A girls cross country team rankings through six weeks: August 21-September 26, 2026
Niceville is still the team to beat in 4A: five girls inside 21 seconds of each other on the season, and nobody else is close to that. They did not race this weekend, and neither did most of the top of the class.
The team that did was Creekside, and it was good. Creekside won Bale-N-Trail with 59 over Buchholz, Eva Delaney second in 18:19.0 and Emma Godfrey third in 18:53.5. That run is worth four points on Spanish River in the virtual race, and four points is not a race. Spanish River sat out, has not met Creekside, and keeps second. The same goes for Hagerty at ninth, which Buchholz passed by seven points without the two meeting. Buchholz beat Beachside at Bale, so Buchholz comes in at tenth and Beachside drops out.
Florida Runners, Pre-State and the Great American are all coming. Spanish River and Creekside will get their race.
A team is ranked on its whole season, with the most recent race counting most, and a meet it won never counts against it. A team that sat out the weekend is not marked down for it. The virtual race behind these scores contains only Class 4A teams, so a team's place here and on the statewide list can differ. As always, this is data plus judgment, and we will miss somebody along the way. A (P) beside a team means it has not put its returning five on a starting line and is entered on what they ran last November. How we sorted it out is at the bottom.
About the times. The average on each line is the converted season figure the scoring uses, in Cecil Field terms, and so are the times beside each runner's name. Times in the write-ups are what the kids actually ran that day; the race log for every runner is on the rankings page.

Did not race. Second at the Southern Showcase on Sept. 19, after wins at Cecil Field, Pine Forest and Pace Patriot. Harmony Holland, Lola Jackson, Sophie Clapp, Anais Almonte and Riley Marise are separated by 21 seconds on the season, a spread no other team in the state is close to. First.
2. Spanish River (Boca Raton): 208 points

Sent a second group to the Chief XC Invitational on Wednesday and won it with 15; none of the top seven ran. Alba Antunez-Perez is one of the best runners in the state, and Makaela Morilla, Brooke Thunberg, Adriana Perrette and Lailani Levy are within 30 seconds of each other behind her. Second, where it was: Creekside's Bale-N-Trail win moved it four points ahead in the virtual race, and a team that sat out is not passed on a few points by a team it has not raced.
3. Creekside (St. Johns): 204 points
Converted average 19:58.7 · 1-5 spread 2:15.5 · finished 8-18-27-41-110 in the class · This week: 1st of 14 at Bale-N-Trail (59).

Won Bale-N-Trail on Saturday with 59, over Buchholz, Ponte Vedra and Beachside: Eva Delaney second in 18:19.0, Emma Godfrey third in 18:53.5, Ivey Edgell sixth in 19:28.4, Elena Schultz 20th and Grace Dashiell 30th. That is the best team run in 4A this week and the front three are as good as anyone's. Third, a spot behind Spanish River until they meet; they have not yet.
4. St. Thomas Aquinas (Fort Lauderdale): 292 points

Did not race. Won King of the Hill on Sept. 10 with 32 and has won all three of its Broward County meets. Elise Brown and Kendall Parrott are a one-two few teams match; the fourth and fifth are the gap to the top three. Fourth.
5. Doral Academy: 313 points

6. Sunlake (Land O'Lakes): 316 points

7. Nease (Ponte Vedra): 338 points

9. Hagerty (Oviedo): 463 points

10. Buchholz (Gainesville): 456 points

11. Beachside (496) was fourth at Bale-N-Trail with 136, Lilly Potts fifth in 19:09.3, and was tenth last week; Buchholz beat it there. 12. Plant (591) beat 13. Sarasota (513) at the North Port Invite on Sept. 19. 14. Bartram Trail (573) was fifth at Bale.
Where the virtual race disagrees with this list
- Plant over Sarasota: 3rd and 5th at the North Port Invite, and neither has raced its top runners since.
- Spanish River over Creekside: Spanish River holds second: it did not race the week of Sept. 26 and is not passed on a few points of figure by a team that did, when the two have not met (Darrin, 2026-09-29).
- Hagerty over Buchholz: Hagerty holds ninth: it did not race the week of Sept. 26 and is not passed on a few points of figure by a team that did, when the two have not met (Darrin, 2026-09-29).
How we ranked them
- Every mark is converted to a Cecil Field equivalent through the runners who ran both that course and last year's state meet.
- Each runner is scored on her whole season, weighted toward the most recent race: this week counts six times, last week five, and so on back to opening weekend, which counts once. A race she won never lowers that figure, and a meet a team won never lowers the team's. A school's five best runners on that basis are its team.
- Those five, with a sixth and seventh where they exist, go into one virtual race against every other Class 4A team, scored the way cross country is scored. 114 4A girls teams cleared the bar; 0 of them are projections. Points climb as more teams enter and are not comparable to last week's; compare the order.
- Where two teams in this class have raced each other with at least three of their scoring seven, the team that won ranks ahead of the team it beat. New this week: a win keeps counting when the winner races again, and a team that sat out the weekend does not lose ground to a team that beat nobody it had to beat. A race run without a team's No. 1 or without two of its scoring five is not held against it.
- A team whose returning five have not raced is entered on last November's state times and marked (P).
- Classes are 2026-27, resolved against the FHSAA classification documents.
- This week only: a team that did not race the week of Sept. 26 is not passed on a few points of figure by a team that did, when the two have not met. That held Spanish River at second and Hagerty at ninth.
