Belen Jesuit won the Florida Horse Park by 168 points, and the rest of Class 3A sorted itself out on the same grass: Ponte Vedra, Vanguard, Tavares, Chiles, Bishop Kenny and Fleming Island finished in the order they are ranked. St. Augustine moved from 14th to seventh, and Bishop Kenny's projection is gone.
Florida Class 3A boys cross country team rankings through three weeks: August 21-September 5, 2026
Belen Jesuit won the Florida Horse Park Invitational with 63 points out of 75 teams. Second place scored 231. Marcelo Mantecon and Armando Cruz went one-two, the next three Belen boys were inside 16:25, and the second-best team in Class 3A, Ponte Vedra, was sixth in the same race with 298. Nothing about the top of this class is in doubt, and it has not been since August 21.
The rest of the top ten spent Saturday sorting itself out on the same grass. Ponte Vedra, Vanguard, Tavares, Chiles, Bishop Kenny and Fleming Island all ran the Horse Park, in that order, and that is the order they are ranked. St. Augustine was second at DeLand and moved from 14th to seventh. Osceola of Seminole won the inaugural Wellen Park Invitational and Gulf Breeze was second at Pace behind Niceville; both are in the ten for the first time. Bishop Kenny raced, and the projection that had them third is gone.
Starting this week a team is ranked on its whole season, with the most recent race counting most, and a meet it won never counts against it. The virtual race behind these scores contains only Class 3A teams, so a team's place here and on the statewide list can differ. As always, this is data plus judgment, and we will miss somebody along the way. A (P) beside a team means it has not put its returning five on a starting line and is entered on what they ran last November. How we sorted it out is at the bottom. Races are not won until the kids have run. Enjoy.

The time next to each runner is what he actually ran in his most recent race that counts; the figure in parentheses is what it is worth at Cecil Field. A projected team's marks are its runners' 2025 state times.

1. Belen Jesuit (Miami): 53 points

Won the Horse Park by 168 points: Mantecon 15:22.1, Cruz 15:24.4, Jack Michalak 16:13.8, Davi Bodoh 16:16.9, Dominic De Armas 16:24.8. That run is left out of their figure for the plain reason that a win never lowers it; the Cecil Field run, where Cruz went 15:06.0 and Michalak 15:47.0, is the one that ranks them, a 15:54.4 average, still the only team in Florida under 16:00. Mantecon is not in the five below because the only race he has run is the one that is not counted. Add him and the number gets better. They also sent a second squad to the Pine Crest meet and finished second to Doral Academy.
2. Ponte Vedra: 250 points

Sixth at the Horse Park with 298, ahead of every other 3A team in the race. Luke Ross 16:02.8, Jack Feather 16:54.4, Aiden Killoran 16:57.2, Logan Hunt 17:10.4, Colin Bovee 17:13.1. Two weeks earlier at Spikes & Spurs, Feather and Killoran were 18:05 and 17:58. That is a minute of improvement from the second and third men in fourteen days, and it moves the team from fifth to second.
3. Vanguard (Ocala): 272 points
Season average 16:59.3 · 1-5 spread 1:37.9 · finished 21-32-34-54-131 in the class · Horse Park · This week: 11th at Horse Park (388).

Eleventh at their own meet with 388: Trevor Berquist 16:15.2, the best of his three races, Lachlan Bryniarski 16:42.1, Jacob Rogers 16:44.9, Christopher Taylor 17:28.5, Cooper Gumpert 18:12.1. Three meets with the same five, and the figures have barely moved: 16:59 season average, 1:38 spread. Second to third, because Ponte Vedra beat them by 90 points on Saturday.
4. Leon: 276 points

Have not raced since Dueling Summits on August 22. Isaiah Renn 17:09.8 there, Carson Weiss 17:30.3, Asher McGrew 17:45.4, worth 16:13, 16:34 and 16:49 at Cecil, then Andrew Barnes and Sam Ito. Sixth to fourth without running a step, because the teams around them ran and did not improve. Two weeks is a long time to hold a number.
5. Fort Myers: 277 points

Reed Hagen 16:19.0 and Trae Britton 16:20.0 from Cecil Field, and neither has raced since. Noah Lefko ran 17:18.4 at 3D Sommers on Saturday, worth 16:44.8, better than his Cecil mark; Brock Jackson was 18:09.2 there, and Elijah Brown's 17:39.0 from Cecil closes the five. Seventh to fifth, one point behind Leon. The full five has not been on one starting line since August 21.
6. Tavares: 330 points

Twelfth at the Horse Park with 451. Liam Ilea 16:30.2, thirty seconds off his Whispering Pines run, Navid Lozano 17:01.0, Nicholas Alvarez 17:12.8, Emiliano Lozano 17:18.1, Omar Castillo 17:59.1. Three races, and the third was the slowest of the three for four of the five. Fourth to sixth, behind the two 3A teams that finished ahead of them in Ocala.

8. Chiles (Tallahassee): 406 points

Second at the Pace Patriot Invitational with 94, 52 points behind Niceville. Owen Tucker 16:45.0 in his first race, third overall on a slow course, worth 16:06 at Cecil and the No. 10 individual in the class; Braeden Hunt 17:41.4, Dennis Fair 18:00.1 in his first race, Cayden Christensen 18:39.2, Roman Ramsay 19:11.1. Tenth on a 2:15 spread. Nobody behind Tucker has run under 17:40 this year.
Just missed
11. Fort Walton Beach, 437, won the Dolphin Dash with 26 on a 0:36.6 spread, the second-tightest raced five in the class; Nolan Ibsen, Ryan Linder and Jordan Silva have each run three races and each one has been faster than the last. Thirteen points out. 12. Lincoln, 446, is still a projection and has not raced. 13. Bishop Kenny, 460, was third a week ago on a projection; they raced, finished 18th at the Horse Park with 586, Quinn Mullaney 16:45.6 and Dayne Kimball 16:57.7 up front and 18:03 and 18:07 for the fourth and fifth, and the projection is gone. That is what a projection is for. 14. Fleming Island, 479, was 20th at the Horse Park; JP Strombeck ran 15:58 at Cecil and 16:42.8 in Ocala.
River Ridge was tenth a week ago and is 15th after finishing 22nd at the Horse Park. Rockledge has Noah Childrey and Brody Johnson, sixth and ninth on the individual list, and a third man at 17:41; they did not race this week and are 16th. Largo, with Isaiah Howdeshell, is 40th. Lake Wales, with Gabriel Harris, is 36th. Mariner, with Dylan Macias-Buenrostro, is 56th. Three of the class's top five individuals run for teams nowhere near this page.
Where the virtual race disagrees with this list
- Nowhere. The Horse Park had Belen, Ponte Vedra, Vanguard, Tavares, Chiles, Bishop Kenny, Fleming Island and River Ridge in exactly this order, and the season figures agree.
How we ranked them
- Every mark is converted to a Cecil Field equivalent through the runners who ran both that course and last year's state meet. The boys' field ran about a second slower in August than at state, and that is removed before a course is rated.
- Each runner is scored on his whole season, weighted toward the most recent race: this week counts three times, last week twice, opening weekend once. A race he won never lowers that figure, and a meet a team won never lowers the team's. A school's five best runners on that basis are its team.
- Those five, with a sixth and seventh where they exist, go into one virtual race against every other Class 3A team and are scored the way cross country is scored: top five count, sixth and seventh displace, five finishers required, low score wins. 95 3A boys teams cleared the bar; 2 of them are projections. Scores climb every week as more teams enter and are not comparable to last week's; compare the order and the averages.
- Where two teams in this class raced each other this week with at least three of their scoring seven, the team that won ranks ahead of the team it beat. Those moves are listed above.
- A team whose returning five have not raced is entered on last November's state times and marked (P). A returner who has raced for another school this season is not projected at the old one.
- Classes are 2026-27, resolved against the FHSAA classification documents.
