Did not race. Nineteenth at the Southern Showcase on September 19 in 15:36.5. Tenth at the Horse Park, where he beat Ross, Aguilar and Liam Ilea. He was fifth last week partly on his Cecil Field win over Hagen, which no longer counts. Ninth.

Nineteenth in the Southern Showcase championship race in 15:36.5, worth about 16:02 at Cecil Field. Ninth at Cecil Field in 15:47.0, tenth at the Horse Park in 16:01.4. Tenth to fifth on the rule: he beat Hagen at Cecil Field, Ross, Aguilar and Ilea at the Horse Park, and has lost only to Belen's three and Howdeshell. He and Harris have not met.

Was entered at Nights of Thunder and the varsity race did not run. 15:47.0 at Cecil Field, fourth in 3A at state last fall in 15:46.3, and 16:01.4 for tenth at the Horse Park. Seventh to tenth without racing.

15:47.0 at Cecil Field and 16:01.4 for tenth at the Horse Park, one place ahead of Ross. Fourth in 3A at state in 15:46.3, the third-fastest returning mark in the class. Two races that say 15:50 and 16:05, and he beat the man behind him on Saturday, so he sits seventh.

Fourth in 3A at state in 15:46.3, 15:47.0 at Cecil, and two weeks of quiet since. The credentials outside Belen are still the best in the class, the evidence is still one race old, and Chiles is entered at the Horse Park, which resolves it. He and Michalak have been separated by inches on this list for two straight weeks; on Saturday they are finally in the same race again.

The best returning credential outside Belen: fourth in 3A at state in 15:46.3. He ran 15:47.0 at Cecil for ninth in the Elite race, which converts to dead even with what he ran in November.

That is not a bad opener — the boys' field as a whole ran even in August, so he is exactly where his fitness says he should be. It is simply that five runners around him gained twenty to forty seconds and he gained nothing, which drops a No. 3 returner to seventh in his class before September. Chiles ranks ninth in 3A on a 2:30 spread.

The most consistent runner on this list, for better and worse. Kiros ran 15:46.3 at state and 15:47 at Cecil, seven-tenths apart. He went with Cruz through the mile and hung on for ninth when the pace turned. In a 3A field that now contains Mantecon, Cruz, Howdeshell and Michalak, consistency at 15:46 is going to be a hard way to make a podium, but it is also the floor nobody else on this list has proven.
