Horse Park Recap: Mantecon Opens With the Win, Gaona-Zelaya Beats Hallick and Tomasic, and Destremps Goes Under Ten
Saturday, September 5, meet by meet: Marcelo Mantecon opens his season with a Belen 1-2 and a 63-point team win at the Florida Horse Park, Natalia Gaona-Zelaya beats Lyla Hallick by 19 seconds with Annabella Tomasic third in her first race, Bishop Moore wins the girls' team title by 42, and the top-ranked middle schoolers in the state, RJ Destremps and Colette Heffernan, win by 11 and 18 seconds. Plus St. Cloud, where Luis Rivera beat Gabriel Harris by three tenths and Arabella Duffell ran 17:38, Pace, where Niceville's girls went eight straight, and Deland, Parker Valby, Freedom, IMG, Wellen Park, the Dolphin Dash, Crystal River, Orange Park and the Grayling Memorial.

Florida Horse Park Invitational, Run Through the Race Simulator: Belen by 27 Without Mantecon, Creekside Over Carrollton by Ten, and a Two-Point Middle School Race
We entered every team on the Florida Horse Park entry list into our Race Simulator and scored all four races on course-graded 2026 marks: Belen Jesuit wins the boys without Mantecon, Creekside holds off Carrollton and Chiles by ten and sixteen, and the middle school boys come down to two points.

Week 2 Class 3A Boys Team Top 10: Florida Cross Country Rankings
Belen Jesuit is first in Class 3A, first in Florida, and the only team in the state under a 16:00 five-man average. Behind them, three of the top ten owe their position to one Saturday at Whispering Pines and one course rating we are not sure of.

Florida Horse Park Invitational Preview: Tomasic Has Run 17:33 on This Grass. Saturday She Could Finally Open.
Bishop Moore is entered in Ocala on Saturday, which could mean the first 2026 race for the No. 1 girl in Florida, on the same course where she ran 17:33.3 last September. Six of our top ten boys are entered too, and Belen Jesuit is the favorite no matter how you score it.

Whispering Pines Invitational Preview: East Ridge Swept Last Year. The Rematch Tilts to Vanguard.
East Ridge swept both races at Whispering Pines last August — the girls on a sixth-runner tiebreak over Vanguard. A year later, run the numbers any way you like and the rematch tilts to Vanguard and Tavares. A preview of Saturday's Whispering Pines Invitational in Inverness, built from 251 finishers on the same course a year ago.
