We ran every entered team at Saturday's Craig Speziale Invitational at Ponte Vedra through our Race Simulator. Bolles is a clear pick in the boys' race; four girls' teams are within seven points.

The 13th Craig Speziale Invitational is Saturday, Oct. 3, 2026, at Ponte Vedra High School. Boys varsity goes at 7:30 a.m., girls varsity at 8:00, then the JV races at 8:30 and 9:00.

Thirty-seven boys' teams and thirty-eight girls' teams from Jacksonville, St. Johns County, Clay County and Nassau County are entered, plus Vanguard from Ocala. We put every one of them into our Race Simulator and scored the varsity races on each runner's best 2026 time. Here is what came out.

The boys' race looks like Bolles 2A. The Bulldogs score 35, more than 50 points clear of Vanguard 3A and Ponte Vedra 3A, and it is the same on the raw clock. The girls' race is a coin flip. Bishop Kenny 3A, Creekside 4A, Ponte Vedra 3A and Bolles 2A finish within seven points of each other, and on best times Creekside edges Bishop Kenny by one. The host swept both team titles the last time we have results, in 2024.

Run it yourself. Every entered team is already loaded.

One click opens the Race Simulator with Saturday's field filled in. Flip it to best times, add a school, or pull a team out and watch the scores move.

About the times. Every time below is what the runner actually ran, and where. The last column is what it is worth on a neutral course (Cecil Field), and that is what the scoring uses.

Boys: Bolles has the numbers

Bolles 2A scores 35, placing 2-3-7-9-14. That is three of the top seven and five of the top fourteen. Brantley Rigdon (Jr.) ran 16:04.0 at Cecil Field and Armaan Sharma (So.) ran 16:01.5 at the adidas XC Challenge, and the two of them are fifth and eighth on our 2A boys top ten. Aidan Chandler (Sr.), seventh on that list, ran 15:56.5 at Bale N Trail last Saturday. Aaron Ches (Jr.) and Wyatt Cleek (Jr.) close out the five. Bolles is No. 1 in our 2A team rankings, and this field has nobody who can match that pack.

Vanguard 3A is second at 86, all off one race: the Rockledge Raider Classic on Sept. 18. Trevor Berquist (So.) ran 16:02.3 there, then Lachlan Bryniarski (So.), Christopher Taylor (So.) and Jacob Rogers (Sr.) all came in by 16:32. Vanguard is second in our 3A team rankings.

Ponte Vedra 3A is third at 92 and has the race favorite. Luke Ross (Sr.) ran 16:02.8 at the Florida Horse Park Invitational and 16:04.9 at Spikes & Spurs, and the simulator puts him first. A word of caution: Spikes & Spurs is a course we have very few comparisons for, so his 15:21.8 there is a thin read. On raw times Ross is sixth, and Bartram Trail's Bryce Motycka (Sr.) is the fastest man in the field with the 15:50.8 he ran at Bale N Trail. Behind Ross, Ponte Vedra's next four are between 18th and 27th, and that gap is why the Sharks are chasing Vanguard and Bolles for the team title.

Creekside 4A (107) and Bishop Kenny 3A (125) are fourth and fifth. Eli Scharf (Sr.) leads Creekside off a 15:57.9 at Bale N Trail. Luke Engels (Sr., Eastside of Gainesville), tenth on our 2A list, is fifth on 16:27.3 from the Buchholz Bobcats Classic.

Girls: four teams, seven points

Bishop Kenny 3A scores 80, placing 4-10-19-20-27. Camila Giles (Jr.), fifth on our 3A girls top ten, ran 18:35.0 at Katie Caples, and Jillian Jakab (Sr.), tenth on that list, ran 18:38.0 in the same race. Taylor Lawhon (Sr.), Rebecca McEnany (So.) and Alexandra Lumpkin (Jr.) were all under 20 minutes there too. The Crusaders are second in our 3A team rankings.

Creekside 4A is one point back at 81 and wins this race on raw times, 72 to 73. Eva Delaney (So.) ran 18:19.0 and Emma Godfrey (Fr.) 18:53.5 at Bale N Trail, and Ivey Edgell (So.) and Hadleigh Roberts (Jr.) ran 19:16.0 and 19:30.0 at Cecil Field. Their No. 5 is 37th, and that is the one spot where they give up ground. Creekside is third in our 4A team rankings.

Ponte Vedra 3A is third at 85. Freshman Piper Ross ran 19:20.0 at Katie Caples and senior Savannah LaVasser, fifth in this race two years ago as a sophomore, ran 19:34.0 there. Both get a big lift from their Spikes & Spurs runs, with the same caution as above. Ponte Vedra is fourth in our 3A team rankings. Bolles 2A is fourth at 87 behind Sofie Stam (So.), fourth on our 2A girls top ten, who ran 18:20.1 at the adidas XC Challenge.

The front of the race is one sophomore against another. Avery Hartley (So., Bartram Trail), ninth on our 4A girls top ten, ran 18:13.0 at Cecil Field. Lyla Hallick (So., Vanguard) ran 18:10.8 at Rockledge, the fastest raw time in the field, and is second on our 3A list. Stam is third. Vanguard (105) and Episcopal 2A (108) are fifth and sixth as teams.

The middle school entries

Eleven middle schools are on the entry list, and the meet's posted schedule lists only the four high school races. If the middle school teams race each other, here is how they score on their 3K times. Landon wins the boys' race at 53 over Bolles (72) and Episcopal (112), with four Landon boys in the top nine. Aidan Moylan (8th, Imagine Town Center) is the fastest boy, with 10:05.3 at the Horse Park. The girls' race is a tie at 46 between Imagine Town Center and Bolles, and Brianna Motycka (8th, Liberty Pines Academy), who ran 10:44.8 at Nights of Thunder, is the fastest girl entered by a long way.

How we built it

  • Every entered team, scored on each runner's best 2026 5K (3K for the middle schools). Five score, sixth and seventh displace.
  • Each time is leveled to a neutral course using how the same runners have done across courses. The "Score it on best times" buttons skip that step.
  • The simulator does not project, so a team needs five runners with a 2026 time to score. Short of five on the boys' side: Beaches Chapel (4), University Christian 1A (4), The Covenant School of Jackson 1A (3), Lake Asbury Junior High (1). Girls: Global Academy 2A (4), Raines (4), University Christian 1A (4), Fort White 2A (2), River City Science Academy 2A (2).
  • Not in our database yet: Grace Episcopal Day School, Pinewood Christian Academy and RCSA Intracoastal.
  • Meet details are from Ponte Vedra Cross Country's 2026 schedule. The 2024 results are from TFRRS.

We will have results and a recap after Saturday. Until then, the simulator is open, and every team on this list is one click away.
