Aliana Alvarez repeated by 34 seconds, Brody Milek beat Evan Fredricks by 1.4, and River Smith and Ramsey Schmidt were timed in the same 3:50.4 in the K-2 1K. Every top ten, every team score and what the fall did and did not tell us, from FLYRA's elementary state meet at Holloway Park.
FLYRA elementary state meet, Friday, October 30, 2026, Holloway Park, Lakeland. Results from Elite Timing.
Aliana Alvarez is a two-time state champion. The Red Sea fifth grader won the 3rd-5th grade girls' 2K in 7:35.2, 34 seconds clear of Paula Webb, a year after winning it by 31. The boys' race was the opposite kind of race. Brody Milek of Boca Warriors, a fourth grader, held off Evan Fredricks of Trinity School for Children by 1.4 seconds, 7:40.8 to 7:42.2, and ten boys finished within nine seconds of fourth place.
The youngest race produced the closest finish of the night. River Smith of Ocala Distance Project and Ramsey Schmidt of Liza Jackson Prep were both timed in 3:50.4 in the K-2 1K, and Smith got the win on the photo. Emmy Franklin of Bell Shoals Academy won the girls' side of that race in 3:56.5, faster than last fall's winning time, and Bell Shoals won both K-2 team titles.
It was hot. Elite Timing logged 83 to 84 degrees, humidity and a 15 mph wind gusting past 20 for all four elementary races. Every returning top finisher we checked from last fall's 2Ks ran slower than a year ago, most by 8 to 18 seconds, Alvarez included (7:25.8 then, 7:35.2 now). Read the times with that in mind.
The meet has also grown. Friday's four elementary races had 548 finishers: 250 boys and 184 girls in the 2Ks, 58 boys and 56 girls in the 1K. Last fall the same four races had 265.

Alvarez led from the gun and was never pressed. She has now won every elementary race she entered this fall, on this course on October 2 at the Flrunners.com Invitational, at the Red Sea Central Florida Championship, at Kingdom of the Son and here. Last fall's 7:25.8 stands as her best on the course.
Webb ran the first 2K of her fall and finished second in 8:09.1. Every other race she ran this season was against middle school girls, and she won most of them, including the two-mile SAC Finals last weekend. Adeline Farrier of Hillsborough Harriers was one second behind her in 8:10.1, three weeks after winning the Bay Area Middle Schools Championship 2K by 36 seconds. Gracie Freeman of Naples Christian, fifth last fall and second to Alvarez at Flrunners, was fourth.
Then the race bunched. Fifth through tenth covered 7.6 seconds. Maia Lewis, unattached and running her first race on our books, took fifth in 8:39.1, a tenth ahead of Vivian Hartley of No Excuses. Hartley's teammate Linley Dziedziejko was seventh, Lainey Jessup eighth, Juliet Tropea ninth and Avery Maldonado tenth, so the Hartley-Dziedziejko-Jessup trio that traded wins at the North Florida Middle School Championship last Saturday finished within three seconds of each other again. Aubrey Eberson, third in that North Florida 2K, was 12th here. Sophia Dolan of the Harriers, fifth on this course at Flrunners, was 21st.
Last fall's K-2 champion Addison Tisinger ran her first state 2K as a third grader and finished 27th in 9:22.3.
Team: No Excuses RC won with 62 points on Hartley, Dziedziejko and Harper Lafser (19th) up front. Naples Christian was second with 69, Miami Twisters third with 82 and Hillsborough Harriers fourth with 119. The Harriers had three of the top eight scorers (Farrier, Jessup and Dolan) and lost on their fourth and fifth. Red Sea had Alvarez and Maldonado in the top ten but not five finishers, so it did not score.

Milek has now won both 2Ks run at Holloway Park this fall. He was fourth here last fall as a third grader in 7:22.9, and he is the first boy from that top ten to win the race, because the three who beat him moved up to middle school. Fredricks made him earn it. The Trinity School for Children fifth grader won the TCAL 2K at the Bay Area meet two weeks ago and was ninth at Flrunners on this course in 8:30.1. On Friday he ran 7:42.2, 48 seconds faster, and finished 1.4 seconds back.
Richard Destefanis of Milers Running Club, seventh last fall, was third in 7:45.1 in his first race since September 26. Behind him came the pack. Maximus Melo Morin of Miami Elite, who had raced only the 1.5-mile Superfly meets this fall, was fourth in 7:51.2, two tenths ahead of Nolan Austin of No Excuses, a fourth grader who won the North Florida 2K last Saturday. Thomas Haughey of Naples Christian was sixth, Bodhi Teeters of Imagine Town Center seventh in his first 2K after a fall of middle school 3Ks, Gabriel Hirakuri Lehmkuhl eighth, Andrew Conley ninth and Faid Chiong of Conchita Espinosa tenth. Fourth place to 13th place was 7:51.2 to 7:59.9.
Ramsay Rinaldi of Palm Valley Academy was 11th, Julian Vazquez of SV Performance 14th in 8:01.0, and Hudson Austin of No Excuses 16th. Roger White of Boca Warriors, fifth on this course at Flrunners, was 35th.
Among last fall's K-2 top five, all third graders now, David Ladron De Guevara of Conchita Espinosa was the first across in 26th (8:29.9). Gage Jessup was 52nd, last fall's K-2 champion Samuel Hirakuri Lehmkuhl 55th and Cal Austin 69th.
Team: Boca Warriors Track Club put five boys in the top 13 (Milek, Hirakuri Lehmkuhl, Conley, Micah Howard and Giancarlo Zafrilla) and won with 25 points. Conchita Espinosa Academy was second with 97, Hillsborough Harriers third with 136, Liza Jackson Prep fourth with 137 and No Excuses RC fifth with 145.

Franklin, a second grader, came in with one race on our books, a 15-second win in the elementary 1K at the TBCAL Championships on October 13. She left with a state title, 2.6 seconds ahead of Nora Eckerson of No Excuses, who had won the North Florida 2nd-and-under 1K the week before. Her 3:56.5 beat last fall's winning time of 4:00.3. Millie Austin of No Excuses, third last fall, was third again in 4:07.2, 12 seconds back and 12 seconds clear of the field.
Cora McKee, unattached, was fourth in 4:19.8 after running the 3rd-5th grade 2Ks at the Horse Park and Flrunners earlier this fall. Hillsborough Harriers went 5-7-10 with Adelynn Deien, Ella Hallinan and Sylvia Destremps, with Clarissa Martinez-Christensen of Miami Elite between them in sixth. Tirzah Oyer of No Excuses was eighth and Saylor Baker of Bell Shoals ninth. Allison Kay, the first grader who ran 9:33 for 2K at the Horse Park, was 15th in 4:34.8.
Team: Bell Shoals Academy 27, No Excuses RC 33, Naples Christian 76. No Excuses had the second, third and fourth scorers and lost on depth: Bell Shoals' second through fifth scorers were the fifth, sixth, seventh and eighth team runners across.

Smith and Schmidt were given the same time to the tenth, 3:50.4, and the mile pace Elite Timing printed separates them by a hundredth. Smith, a second grader from Ocala Distance Project, was second in the open elementary 2K at Kingdom of the Son last Saturday. Schmidt, sixth in this race last fall as a first grader, had not raced this fall. Last fall's winning time was 3:50.1. Leo Montesinos of Miami Twisters was third in 3:52.3, his first race on our books.
Daniel Coca-Correa of Assumption Catholic, who ran the CSXC 1Ks in Jacksonville in September, was fourth in 4:01.8, two tenths ahead of Bauer Works of Gulf Coast Runners, who had run the 3rd-5th grade 2K on this course at Flrunners. Brooks Maynard, a first grader from Ocala Distance Project, was ninth. Levi Beasley of Saint Patrick's was 12th, Jose Carlo Alejandro 15th and Fisher Peterika 16th. Noa Koshinomi, who ran 9:11 for 2K at the Bay Area meet, did not appear in the results.

What the fall said
The season form held at the top of three of the four races. Alvarez was unbeaten in elementary races coming in and won. Franklin, Eckerson and Austin had the three best 1K runs by K-2 girls this fall and finished 1-2-3. Smith and Works were the two K-2 boys with sub-4:00 projections off their 2Ks, and they were first and fifth, with Schmidt, the top returner from last fall's race, in between on no fall races at all.
The boys' 2K was the one we would not have called. Fredricks was a 7:41 runner at the Bay Area meet and an 8:30 runner on this course four weeks ago; he ran to the better of those two. Melo Morin had raced only 1.5-mile middle school races in Miami. Lewis in the girls' race and Montesinos in the K-2 boys' race had no results anywhere in our database before Friday. We will add all four races to the Florida XC results database along with Saturday's middle school championship races.
Saturday's eight FLYRA middle school championship races start at 8:00 a.m. Our middle school state preview has the top ten entrants in each.
