Nease and Niceville hold the top two in the Class 4A boys team rankings after New World, Hagerty is third, Flagler Palm Coast is fourth at full strength, and Doral and Creekside join the ten.
Florida Class 4A boys cross country team rankings through nine weeks: August 21-October 17, 2026
Most of the state's best teams met at the New World Fall Spectacular in Jacksonville on Saturday, the deepest meet of the Florida season so far. Where two teams met there, that result orders them. Some teams were missing a top runner, so we also scored the race as if every team had its full top five, the same way our statewide lists did, and that full-strength result is the one we use. How we placed the missing runners is at the bottom.
Nease was second in the Boys Elite race with 93, behind only Belen Jesuit of 3A, and more than 100 points clear of every other 4A team. Niceville was the next 4A team across, fifth with 270, a week after Hurricane Isaias closed its school. They stay first and second.
Flagler Palm Coast ran without Mateo Almeida, its No. 3, and scored 397. With Almeida placed at 16:06, slower than his season says he runs, it scores 307, ahead of every other 4A team behind Nease and Niceville. Hagerty did not race, holds the place it has on our statewide list, and is third, with Flagler Palm Coast fourth. Columbus, Doral Academy, Braddock and Creekside come next, in the order they finished at full strength. Doral and Creekside are new to the ten.
A team is ranked on its whole season, with the most recent race counting most, and a meet it won never counts against it. A team that sat out the weekend is not marked down for it. The virtual race behind these scores contains only Class 4A teams, so a team's place here and on the statewide list can differ. As always, this is data plus judgment, and we will miss somebody along the way. A (P) beside a team means it has not put its returning five on a starting line and is entered on what they ran last November. How we sorted it out is at the bottom.
About the times. The average on each line is the converted season figure the scoring uses, in Cecil Field terms, and so are the times beside each runner's name. Times in the write-ups are what the kids actually ran that day; the race log for every runner is on the rankings page.

Just missed

Where the virtual race disagrees with this list
- Doral Academy over Braddock: 361 to 380 at the New World Fall Spectacular, scored at full strength.
- Hagerty over Flagler Palm Coast; Doral Academy, Braddock and Creekside over Lake Minneola; Creekside over Newsome: the order of our statewide list (Hagerty No. 6, Doral Academy No. 10, Braddock No. 11, Creekside No. 12). A class list never runs against the statewide one.

How we ranked them
- Every mark is converted to a Cecil Field equivalent through the runners who ran both that course and last year's state meet.
- Each runner is scored on his whole season, weighted toward the most recent race: this week counts nine times, last week eight, and so on back to opening weekend, which counts once. A race he won never lowers that figure, and a meet a team won never lowers the team's. A school's five best runners on that basis are its team.
- Those five, with a sixth and seventh where they exist, go into one virtual race against every other Class 4A team, scored the way cross country is scored. 141 4A boys teams cleared the bar; none of them is a projection. Points climb as more teams enter and are not comparable to last week's; compare the order.
- Where two teams in this class have raced each other with at least three of their scoring seven, the team that won ranks ahead of the team it beat until they meet again. Where results go round in a circle, the newest meeting decides. A race run without a team's No. 1 or without two of its scoring five is not held against it.
- Results from September 12 and earlier no longer order teams. The times still count in the figures.
- New World is read at full strength, the same way as on the statewide list: for every Florida team there missing one of its season top five, we put the missing runner back at his season figure converted to the New World course, added 19 seconds to be conservative, and re-scored the whole race. Those added times are estimates, not results.
- These lists follow the statewide team list: a team ranked on it is ahead of every team in its class that is not, and teams on both lists are in the same order. A team that did not race this weekend holds its place.
- A team whose returning five have not raced is entered on last November's state times and marked (P).
- Classes are 2026-27, resolved against the FHSAA classification documents.
- Flagler Palm Coast and Buchholz are ranked on their full-strength New World scores: Mateo Almeida went in at 16:06 and Finn Richards at 16:16.
- Hagerty, Lake Minneola and Newsome did not race at New World and hold their places against the teams they have not met. Lake Minneola is ninth because our statewide list ranks Doral, Braddock and Creekside, all New World teams, ahead of it.
Every result behind this list is in the rankings section, and the full weekend is in the weekend recap.
