Niceville is first in the Class 4A girls team rankings after New World, Creekside second, and Doral moves past Nease, which ran without its No. 4. Beachside joins the ten.
Florida Class 4A girls cross country team rankings through nine weeks: August 21-October 17, 2026
Most of the state's best teams met at the New World Fall Spectacular in Jacksonville on Saturday, the deepest meet of the Florida season so far. Where two teams met there, that result orders them. Some teams were missing a top runner, so we also scored the race as if every team had its full top five, the same way our statewide lists did, and that full-strength result is the one we use. How we placed the missing runners is at the bottom.
Niceville was third in the Girls Elite race with 227, behind IMG Academy and Bolles of 2A, and the first 4A team across by 88 points. Harmony Holland was 19th in 18:27, and freshmen Anais Almonte and Lola Jackson finished side by side, 42nd and 43rd. Creekside was the next 4A team, sixth with 315, and stays second. Spanish River and St. Thomas Aquinas were ninth and tenth, and hold third and fourth.
Doral Academy beat Nease by six points, 368 to 374, and moves past it. Nease ran without Ava Campbell, its No. 4; with her placed at 20:34 Nease scores 391, still behind Doral at full strength. Beachside was 15th with 427, the next 4A team behind Nease, and comes into the ten.
A team is ranked on its whole season, with the most recent race counting most, and a meet it won never counts against it. A team that sat out the weekend is not marked down for it. The virtual race behind these scores contains only Class 4A teams, so a team's place here and on the statewide list can differ. As always, this is data plus judgment, and we will miss somebody along the way. A (P) beside a team means it has not put its returning five on a starting line and is entered on what they ran last November. How we sorted it out is at the bottom.
About the times. The average on each line is the converted season figure the scoring uses, in Cecil Field terms, and so are the times beside each runner's name. Times in the write-ups are what the kids actually ran that day; the race log for every runner is on the rankings page.

How we ranked them
- Every mark is converted to a Cecil Field equivalent through the runners who ran both that course and last year's state meet.
- Each runner is scored on her whole season, weighted toward the most recent race: this week counts nine times, last week eight, and so on back to opening weekend, which counts once. A race she won never lowers that figure, and a meet a team won never lowers the team's. A school's five best runners on that basis are its team.
- Those five, with a sixth and seventh where they exist, go into one virtual race against every other Class 4A team, scored the way cross country is scored. 122 4A girls teams cleared the bar; none of them is a projection. Points climb as more teams enter and are not comparable to last week's; compare the order.
- Where two teams in this class have raced each other with at least three of their scoring seven, the team that won ranks ahead of the team it beat until they meet again. Where results go round in a circle, the newest meeting decides. A race run without a team's No. 1 or without two of its scoring five is not held against it.
- Results from September 12 and earlier no longer order teams. The times still count in the figures.
- New World is read at full strength, the same way as on the statewide list: for every Florida team there missing one of its season top five, we put the missing runner back at her season figure converted to the New World course, added 19 seconds to be conservative, and re-scored the whole race. Those added times are estimates, not results.
- These lists follow the statewide team list: a team ranked on it is ahead of every team in its class that is not, and teams on both lists are in the same order. A team that did not race this weekend holds its place.
- A team whose returning five have not raced is entered on last November's state times and marked (P).
- Classes are 2026-27, resolved against the FHSAA classification documents.
- Nease and Buchholz are ranked on their full-strength New World scores: Ava Campbell went in at 20:34 and Valeria Beaver at 19:48.
- Sunlake, Boone, Hagerty and Lake Mary did not race at New World and hold their places against the teams they have not met.
Every result behind this list is in the rankings section, and the full weekend is in the weekend recap.
