Chiles is first in the Class 3A girls team rankings after New World, Bishop Moore second at full strength, Lourdes and Ponte Vedra move up, and Bishop Kenny drops to fifth without Camila Giles.

Florida Class 3A girls cross country team rankings through nine weeks: August 21-October 17, 2026

Most of the state's best teams met at the New World Fall Spectacular in Jacksonville on Saturday, the deepest meet of the Florida season so far. Where two teams met there, that result orders them. Some teams were missing a top runner, so we also scored the race as if every team had its full top five, the same way our statewide lists did, and that full-strength result is the one we use. How we placed the missing runners is at the bottom.

Chiles was fourth in the Girls Elite race with 267, the first 3A team across, and moves up from third to first. Bishop Moore had Annabella Tomasic second in 17:04 but ran with six finishers and without Carolyn Susnis, its No. 5, and scored 360. With Susnis placed at 20:12 it scores 288, eight points behind Chiles, and it is second.

Lourdes and Ponte Vedra were seventh and eighth, four points apart, and are third and fourth. Bishop Kenny, first last week, ran without Camila Giles for the second straight week and was 17th with 470. With Giles placed at 18:10 it scores 343, two points behind Ponte Vedra, and it is fifth. Vanguard was 14th with 394, with Lyla Hallick seventh in 17:55, and is sixth. The first five are in the same order as on our statewide list.

A team is ranked on its whole season, with the most recent race counting most, and a meet it won never counts against it. A team that sat out the weekend is not marked down for it. The virtual race behind these scores contains only Class 3A teams, so a team's place here and on the statewide list can differ. As always, this is data plus judgment, and we will miss somebody along the way. A (P) beside a team means it has not put its returning five on a starting line and is entered on what they ran last November. How we sorted it out is at the bottom.

About the times. The average on each line is the converted season figure the scoring uses, in Cecil Field terms, and so are the times beside each runner's name. Times in the write-ups are what the kids actually ran that day; the race log for every runner is on the rankings page.

The statewide lists: Week 9 girls team top 10 and Week 9 boys team top 10. The 3A girls individuals are here, and last week’s edition of this list is here. The other classes this week: 3A boys, 1A girls, 2A girls, 4A girls.

How we ranked them

  • Every mark is converted to a Cecil Field equivalent through the runners who ran both that course and last year's state meet.
  • Each runner is scored on her whole season, weighted toward the most recent race: this week counts nine times, last week eight, and so on back to opening weekend, which counts once. A race she won never lowers that figure, and a meet a team won never lowers the team's. A school's five best runners on that basis are its team.
  • Those five, with a sixth and seventh where they exist, go into one virtual race against every other Class 3A team, scored the way cross country is scored. 96 3A girls teams cleared the bar; none of them is a projection. Points climb as more teams enter and are not comparable to last week's; compare the order.
  • Where two teams in this class have raced each other with at least three of their scoring seven, the team that won ranks ahead of the team it beat until they meet again. Where results go round in a circle, the newest meeting decides. A race run without a team's No. 1 or without two of its scoring five is not held against it.
  • Results from September 12 and earlier no longer order teams. The times still count in the figures.
  • New World is read at full strength, the same way as on the statewide list: for every Florida team there missing one of its season top five, we put the missing runner back at her season figure converted to the New World course, added 19 seconds to be conservative, and re-scored the whole race. Those added times are estimates, not results.
  • These lists follow the statewide team list: a team ranked on it is ahead of every team in its class that is not, and teams on both lists are in the same order. A team that did not race this weekend holds its place.
  • A team whose returning five have not raced is entered on last November's state times and marked (P).
  • Classes are 2026-27, resolved against the FHSAA classification documents.
  • Bishop Moore and Bishop Kenny are ranked on their full-strength New World scores: Carolyn Susnis went in at 20:12 and Camila Giles at 18:10. Without her, Bishop Kenny scored 470 on the day, behind Vanguard.
  • Osceola, Tavares, Fort Walton Beach and Dillard did not race at New World and hold their places.

Every result behind this list is in the rankings section, and the full weekend is in the weekend recap.
