Nease and Niceville hold the top two in the Class 4A boys team rankings, Flagler Palm Coast moves to third after Manhattan, and Columbus beat Braddock and Doral at Snake Bite.
Florida Class 4A boys cross country team rankings through eight weeks: August 21-October 10, 2026
The FSU Pre-State Invitational, the biggest meet of the fall, was canceled for Hurricane Isaias, and most of the state's best teams did not race. A team that sat out the weekend holds its place.
Flagler Palm Coast went to the Manhattan University Invitational in the Bronx and was third of 25 teams in Varsity Boys C with 123, with Douglas Seth fourth, Mateo Almeida ninth and Dylan Ciardi 26th. The Manhattan course is 2.5 miles, so we convert those times to a 5K before we price the course, and on that number FPC moves from seventh to third.
At the Snake Bite Invite in Boca Raton, Columbus won with 58, Braddock was second with 64, Spanish River third with 71 and Doral fourth with 77. Doral, fifth last week, drops below Spanish River, the team that beat it, and out of the ten. Lake Minneola won the Wildwood Invitational with 17. Buchholz won HMT in Gainesville, but we are treating Buchholz's day there as a workout, not a race.
A team is ranked on its whole season, with the most recent race counting most, and a meet it won never counts against it. A team that sat out the weekend is not marked down for it. The virtual race behind these scores contains only Class 4A teams, so a team's place here and on the statewide list can differ. As always, this is data plus judgment, and we will miss somebody along the way. A (P) beside a team means it has not put its returning five on a starting line and is entered on what they ran last November. How we sorted it out is at the bottom.
About the times. The average on each line is the converted season figure the scoring uses, in Cecil Field terms, and so are the times beside each runner's name. Times in the write-ups are what the kids actually ran that day; the race log for every runner is on the rankings page.
The statewide lists: Week 8 boys team top 10 and Week 8 girls team top 10. The 4A boys individuals are here, and last week’s edition of this list is here. The other classes this week: 4A girls, 1A boys, 2A boys, 3A boys.

Just missed
Spanish River (Boca Raton) was third at Snake Bite with 71, Casey Sangely first individually, and beat Doral Academy by six points; Doral, fifth last week, sits behind it. St. Cloud won the Harmony Longhorn Invitational on October 3.
Where the virtual race disagrees with this list
- Spanish River over Doral Academy: 3rd and 4th at the Snake Bite Invite, and they have not met since.
- Buchholz over Spanish River: 18th and 27th at the Great American XC Festival, and they have not met since.
- Nease over Niceville: Nease over Niceville is the statewide call: Nease was seventh of 40 in the Great American Race of Champions and third at Roy Griak, and no Florida team but Belen has beaten its full varsity.
- Braddock over Lake Minneola: Braddock over Lake Minneola matches the statewide list; the two have not met.
- Wiregrass Ranch over Buchholz: Wiregrass Ranch did not race this weekend and holds its place. Buchholz's HMT run is treated as a workout, not a race, so its last result is 18th of 40 at the Great American, and the two have not met.
- Newsome over Buchholz: Newsome did not race this weekend and holds its place. It won the Don Bishop Invitational on Oct. 3, and it has not met Buchholz.
Up next
Most of the state's top teams race this weekend at the New World Fall Spectacular, October 16-17 at Cecil Field in Jacksonville. Next week's lists will lean heavily on it.

How we ranked them
- Every mark is converted to a Cecil Field equivalent through the runners who ran both that course and last year's state meet.
- Each runner is scored on his whole season, weighted toward the most recent race: this week counts eight times, last week seven, and so on back to opening weekend, which counts once. A race he won never lowers that figure, and a meet a team won never lowers the team's. A school's five best runners on that basis are its team.
- Those five, with a sixth and seventh where they exist, go into one virtual race against every other Class 4A team, scored the way cross country is scored. 139 4A boys teams cleared the bar; 0 of them are projections. Points climb as more teams enter and are not comparable to last week's; compare the order.
- Where two teams in this class have raced each other with at least three of their scoring seven, the team that won ranks ahead of the team it beat until they meet again. Where results go round in a circle, the newest meeting decides. A race run without a team's No. 1 or without two of its scoring five is not held against it.
- Results from September 12 and earlier no longer order teams. The times still count in the figures.
- The FSU Pre-State Invitational, the biggest meet of the fall, was canceled for Hurricane Isaias. A team that did not race this weekend holds its place.
- A team whose returning five have not raced is entered on last November's state times and marked (P).
- Classes are 2026-27, resolved against the FHSAA classification documents.
- Manhattan is counted: times are converted from 2.5 miles to a 5K before the course is priced.
- Buchholz's runs at HMT on October 10 are treated as a workout, not a race.
- Braddock over Lake Minneola matches the statewide list; Wiregrass Ranch and Newsome did not race and hold their places.
Every result behind this list is in the rankings section, and the full weekend is in the weekend recap.
