Bolles holds first in the Class 2A boys team rankings after the Manhattan Invitational in New York, Gulliver Prep is second after Snake Bite, and Berkeley Prep comes into the ten.

Florida Class 2A boys cross country team rankings through eight weeks: August 21-October 10, 2026

The FSU Pre-State Invitational, the biggest meet of the fall, was canceled for Hurricane Isaias, and most of the state's best teams did not race. A team that sat out the weekend holds its place.

Bolles went to the Manhattan University Invitational in the Bronx and was eighth of 32 teams in the Eastern States Championship with 285, against the best programs in the Northeast. Aidan Chandler led in 13:05.9 for 2.5 miles, with Aaron Ches, Wyatt Cleek, Armaan Sharma and Vincent Barragan next. The Manhattan course is 2.5 miles, so we convert those times to a 5K before we price the course. Gulliver Prep was fifth of 15 at the Snake Bite Invite in Boca Raton with 87, Kayaan Ghaffar second individually. Eastside was third at HMT and drops from fourth to sixth. Pine Crest was eighth at Snake Bite, behind FAU, and drops out; Berkeley Prep comes in at tenth.

A team is ranked on its whole season, with the most recent race counting most, and a meet it won never counts against it. A team that sat out the weekend is not marked down for it. The virtual race behind these scores contains only Class 2A teams, so a team's place here and on the statewide list can differ. As always, this is data plus judgment, and we will miss somebody along the way. A (P) beside a team means it has not put its returning five on a starting line and is entered on what they ran last November. How we sorted it out is at the bottom.

About the times. The average on each line is the converted season figure the scoring uses, in Cecil Field terms, and so are the times beside each runner's name. Times in the write-ups are what the kids actually ran that day; the race log for every runner is on the rankings page.

The statewide lists: Week 8 boys team top 10 and Week 8 girls team top 10. The 2A boys individuals are here, and last week’s edition of this list is here. The other classes this week: 2A girls, 1A boys, 3A boys, 4A boys.

Gear

A cross country spike that will not eat the budget.

The Saucony Kilkenny XC 10 is the spike most high school coaches hand to a freshman: light, a snug fit, a plate that grips grass and dirt, and replaceable pins for wet courses. It is a fraction of the price of the carbon racing spikes.

Where the virtual race disagrees with this list

  • Dunedin over McKeel: 3rd and 4th at the Mitchell Mustang Invite, and they have not met since.
  • FAU over Pine Crest: 6th and 8th at the Snake Bite Invite, and they have not met since.

Up next

Most of the state's top teams race this weekend at the New World Fall Spectacular, October 16-17 at Cecil Field in Jacksonville. Next week's lists will lean heavily on it.

How we ranked them

  • Every mark is converted to a Cecil Field equivalent through the runners who ran both that course and last year's state meet.
  • Each runner is scored on his whole season, weighted toward the most recent race: this week counts eight times, last week seven, and so on back to opening weekend, which counts once. A race he won never lowers that figure, and a meet a team won never lowers the team's. A school's five best runners on that basis are its team.
  • Those five, with a sixth and seventh where they exist, go into one virtual race against every other Class 2A team, scored the way cross country is scored. 117 2A boys teams cleared the bar; 0 of them are projections. Points climb as more teams enter and are not comparable to last week's; compare the order.
  • Where two teams in this class have raced each other with at least three of their scoring seven, the team that won ranks ahead of the team it beat until they meet again. Where results go round in a circle, the newest meeting decides. A race run without a team's No. 1 or without two of its scoring five is not held against it.
  • Results from September 12 and earlier no longer order teams. The times still count in the figures.
  • The FSU Pre-State Invitational, the biggest meet of the fall, was canceled for Hurricane Isaias. A team that did not race this weekend holds its place.
  • A team whose returning five have not raced is entered on last November's state times and marked (P).
  • Classes are 2026-27, resolved against the FHSAA classification documents.
  • Manhattan is counted: times are converted from 2.5 miles to a 5K, and the course is priced from the Florida runners who also ran last year's state meet.
  • Wolfson's own meet on October 5 was a group run, not a race, and is not counted.

Every result behind this list is in the rankings section, and the full weekend is in the weekend recap.
