Carrollton holds first in the Class 2A girls team rankings, Episcopal won the JAC Invitational at home, and Bolles raced the Manhattan Invitational in New York.

Florida Class 2A girls cross country team rankings through eight weeks: August 21-October 10, 2026

The FSU Pre-State Invitational, the biggest meet of the fall, was canceled for Hurricane Isaias, and most of the state's best teams did not race. A team that sat out the weekend holds its place.

Episcopal won JAC, its home meet, with 43: Kate Brice, Whitney Morgan, Holland McKinney and Stella Krueger were second, third, fourth and sixth. It is first in the class-only race, and we keep Carrollton, which has not raced its full lineup since September 26, one place ahead, the same call as on the statewide list. Bolles was fifth of 17 in the Eastern States Championship at Manhattan with 154, Sofie Stam 11th. The Manhattan course is 2.5 miles, so we convert those times to a 5K before we price the course.

At Snake Bite, Ransom Everglades beat Cardinal Newman 104 to 141, and that newer result puts Ransom above Newman. Berkeley Prep and Montverde did not race and hold fourth and fifth.

A team is ranked on its whole season, with the most recent race counting most, and a meet it won never counts against it. A team that sat out the weekend is not marked down for it. The virtual race behind these scores contains only Class 2A teams, so a team's place here and on the statewide list can differ. As always, this is data plus judgment, and we will miss somebody along the way. A (P) beside a team means it has not put its returning five on a starting line and is entered on what they ran last November. How we sorted it out is at the bottom.

About the times. The average on each line is the converted season figure the scoring uses, in Cecil Field terms, and so are the times beside each runner's name. Times in the write-ups are what the kids actually ran that day; the race log for every runner is on the rankings page.

The statewide lists: Week 8 girls team top 10 and Week 8 boys team top 10. The 2A girls individuals are here, and last week’s edition of this list is here. The other classes this week: 2A boys, 1A girls, 3A girls, 4A girls.

Where the virtual race disagrees with this list

  • Berkeley Prep over Cardinal Gibbons: 3rd and 16th at the flrunners.com Invitational, and they have not met since.
  • Ransom Everglades over Cardinal Newman: 3rd and 4th at the Snake Bite Invite, and they have not met since.
  • Montverde Academy over Cardinal Gibbons: 5th and 16th at the flrunners.com Invitational, and they have not met since.
  • Calvary Christian Academy over Cardinal Gibbons: 12th and 16th at the flrunners.com Invitational, and they have not met since.
  • Carrollton over Episcopal: Carrollton over Episcopal matches the statewide list (Oct. 11): Episcopal won JAC, its home meet, with 43, but that is one race and Carrollton has not raced its full lineup since; the two have not met.
  • Berkeley Prep over Ransom Everglades: Berkeley Prep did not race this weekend and holds its place: Ransom Everglades and Cardinal Newman raced at Snake Bite, but neither is clear of Berkeley's figure, and none of them has met.
  • Montverde Academy over Ransom Everglades: Montverde did not race this weekend and holds its place; Ransom Everglades is level with it on the figure and they have not met.

Up next

Most of the state's top teams race this weekend at the New World Fall Spectacular, October 16-17 at Cecil Field in Jacksonville. Next week's lists will lean heavily on it.

How we ranked them

  • Every mark is converted to a Cecil Field equivalent through the runners who ran both that course and last year's state meet.
  • Each runner is scored on her whole season, weighted toward the most recent race: this week counts eight times, last week seven, and so on back to opening weekend, which counts once. A race she won never lowers that figure, and a meet a team won never lowers the team's. A school's five best runners on that basis are its team.
  • Those five, with a sixth and seventh where they exist, go into one virtual race against every other Class 2A team, scored the way cross country is scored. 91 2A girls teams cleared the bar; 0 of them are projections. Points climb as more teams enter and are not comparable to last week's; compare the order.
  • Where two teams in this class have raced each other with at least three of their scoring seven, the team that won ranks ahead of the team it beat until they meet again. Where results go round in a circle, the newest meeting decides. A race run without a team's No. 1 or without two of its scoring five is not held against it.
  • Results from September 12 and earlier no longer order teams. The times still count in the figures.
  • The FSU Pre-State Invitational, the biggest meet of the fall, was canceled for Hurricane Isaias. A team that did not race this weekend holds its place.
  • A team whose returning five have not raced is entered on last November's state times and marked (P).
  • Classes are 2026-27, resolved against the FHSAA classification documents.
  • Manhattan is counted: times are converted from 2.5 miles to a 5K before the course is priced.
  • Ransom Everglades over Cardinal Newman: Snake Bite on October 10 replaces the Class 2A scoring at Spanish River on September 18, where Newman won by three.

Every result behind this list is in the rankings section, and the full weekend is in the weekend recap.
