Bolles leads the Class 2A boys team rankings after finishing fourth at New World, Gulliver Prep is second, and McKeel, Eastside and Wolfson are reordered by their New World meeting.
Florida Class 2A boys cross country team rankings through nine weeks: August 21-October 17, 2026
Most of the state's best teams met at the New World Fall Spectacular in Jacksonville on Saturday, the deepest meet of the Florida season so far. Where two teams met there, that result orders them. Some teams were missing a top runner, so we also scored the race as if every team had its full top five, the same way our statewide lists did, and that full-strength result is the one we use. How we placed the missing runners is at the bottom.
Bolles was fourth in the Boys Elite race with 218, behind only Belen Jesuit, Nease and IMG Academy, and the first 2A team across by 126 points. Aaron Ches was 26th in 15:32. Gulliver Prep was sixth with 344, Kayaan Ghaffar 13th in 15:19. They stay first and second, third and eighth on our statewide list.
Calvary Christian (Clearwater) was the next 2A team at New World, 21st with 637, and holds third. Further back, McKeel beat Eastside and Wolfson, and Dunedin, which beat McKeel at the Mitchell Invitational in September, moves up to fifth.
A team is ranked on its whole season, with the most recent race counting most, and a meet it won never counts against it. A team that sat out the weekend is not marked down for it. The virtual race behind these scores contains only Class 2A teams, so a team's place here and on the statewide list can differ. As always, this is data plus judgment, and we will miss somebody along the way. A (P) beside a team means it has not put its returning five on a starting line and is entered on what they ran last November. How we sorted it out is at the bottom.
About the times. The average on each line is the converted season figure the scoring uses, in Cecil Field terms, and so are the times beside each runner's name. Times in the write-ups are what the kids actually ran that day; the race log for every runner is on the rankings page.
The statewide lists: Week 9 boys team top 10 and Week 9 girls team top 10. The 2A boys individuals are here, and last week’s edition of this list is here. The other classes this week: 2A girls, 1A boys, 3A boys, 4A boys.

A cross country spike that will not eat the budget.
The Saucony Kilkenny XC 10 is the spike most high school coaches hand to a freshman: light, a snug fit, a plate that grips grass and dirt, and replaceable pins for wet courses. It is a fraction of the price of the carbon racing spikes.

How we ranked them
- Every mark is converted to a Cecil Field equivalent through the runners who ran both that course and last year's state meet.
- Each runner is scored on his whole season, weighted toward the most recent race: this week counts nine times, last week eight, and so on back to opening weekend, which counts once. A race he won never lowers that figure, and a meet a team won never lowers the team's. A school's five best runners on that basis are its team.
- Those five, with a sixth and seventh where they exist, go into one virtual race against every other Class 2A team, scored the way cross country is scored. 118 2A boys teams cleared the bar; none of them is a projection. Points climb as more teams enter and are not comparable to last week's; compare the order.
- Where two teams in this class have raced each other with at least three of their scoring seven, the team that won ranks ahead of the team it beat until they meet again. Where results go round in a circle, the newest meeting decides. A race run without a team's No. 1 or without two of its scoring five is not held against it.
- Results from September 12 and earlier no longer order teams. The times still count in the figures.
- New World is read at full strength, the same way as on the statewide list: for every Florida team there missing one of its season top five, we put the missing runner back at his season figure converted to the New World course, added 19 seconds to be conservative, and re-scored the whole race. Those added times are estimates, not results.
- These lists follow the statewide team list: a team ranked on it is ahead of every team in its class that is not, and teams on both lists are in the same order. A team that did not race this weekend holds its place.
- A team whose returning five have not raced is entered on last November's state times and marked (P).
- Classes are 2026-27, resolved against the FHSAA classification documents.
- McKeel, Eastside, Wolfson and Episcopal are ranked on their full-strength New World scores. Episcopal's has three added runners, so treat it as an estimate.
- Lake Highland Prep and Cocoa Beach did not race this week and hold their places. Clearwater Central Catholic is not rated this week, so Dunedin's win there does not move its figure.
Every result behind this list is in the rankings section, and the full weekend is in the weekend recap.
