Florida Class 1A girls cross country through five weeks: August 21-September 19, 2026
The fastest 1A girl on a Florida course this week was an eighth grader. Taylor Geraghty of Holy Trinity won the 1A-2A race at the Spanish River Invitational in 18:50.7 out of 301, 29 seconds ahead of Claire Chanon of Cardinal Gibbons 2A, and Holy Trinity won the 1A scoring with 21 points. She is sixth, and that is a call: Kaitlyn Conboy of Circle Christian beat her at Cecil Field in August, 20:07 to 20:38, and the two have not met since. The rule we hold everywhere else on this list would put Conboy above her. We are ranking the September form, saying so, and the call expires the day they line up together.
Mary Summers of Seven Rivers Christian, a sophomore, is first for a fifth week and has not raced since August 29. Emma Wilkinson of Lakeland Christian, a junior, was second to Madison Muller of Riverview 4A at the Raider Open in 18:29.7, on a course we could not price. Charlotte Roy of All Saints', an eighth grader, won the SSAA Championship in 19:22.1 and beat Naeha Akella of St. Stephen's Episcopal, a senior, by 21 seconds. Roy goes from fourth to third, Akella from third to fifth, and that loss stands until they meet again.
Alexandra Middleton of Indian Rocks Christian, a junior, was seventh at the North Port Invite in 19:16.0 and moves from ninth to seventh, still ahead of Brianna Bergin of Carrollwood, a senior, whom she beat at Seffner Christian. The same ten names as a week ago, in a different order. This is data and judgment, and we will miss somebody.
A runner is ranked on her whole season, with the most recent race counting most, and a race she won never counts against her. As always, this is data plus judgment, and we will miss somebody along the way. A (P) next to a name means that runner has not opened yet and we are going on last November. How we sorted everybody out is at the bottom. Races are not won until the kids have run. Enjoy.

1. Mary Summers, Seven Rivers Christian, So.
Has not raced since Whispering Pines on August 29, and three weekends off are not held against her. The Lecanto win in 18:32.9, worth about 18:29 at Cecil Field, is still the best single run by a 1A girl this fall, and fourth at Whispering Pines in 18:39.3 behind Natalia Gaona-Zelaya and Lyla Hallick is the other. She has not met anyone on this list. First for a fifth week, and tenth on the statewide list.
2. Emma Wilkinson, Lakeland Christian, Jr.
Second at the Raider Open in 18:29.7 out of 105, 55 seconds behind Madison Muller of Riverview 4A and 59 seconds clear of third. The Raider Open course is not rated this week, so the run is on the record and not priced; her 18:28.3 at St. Cloud, second behind Arabella Duffell 4A, ranks her, and she beat Roy there by two tenths. Third at Ragin' Storm, the Lake Region win that is not counted, St. Cloud, Saturday: four races, the last two inside 18:30 on the clock. Second, with wins over Roy and Conboy on her card.
3. Charlotte Roy, All Saints', 8th grade
Won the SSAA Championship in 19:22.1 out of 76, 21 seconds ahead of Akella, and All Saints' won the team title with 27. The course reads a few seconds slow, the win is not counted, and her 18:28.5 at St. Cloud, third behind Duffell and Wilkinson, ranks her. Kowboy, St. Cloud, SSAA: an eighth grader on three races, and the two tenths to Wilkinson at St. Cloud is the only loss on her card. Fourth to third on the win over Akella.
4. Joanie Webb, Donahue Academy, Fr.
Did not race. Two starts, two wins: Lehigh on opening weekend in 19:42.8, which is not counted, and the Fort Myers XC Invite in 20:07.5 out of 205, 30 seconds ahead of Emily Del Mazo, on a course that runs slow; that run is worth about 19:25 at Cecil Field. Del Mazo is the only girl on this list she has met, and she beat her. A freshman, and fifth to fourth as Akella slipped behind her.
5. Naeha Akella, St. Stephen's Episcopal, Sr.
Second at the SSAA Championship in 19:43.6, 21 seconds behind Roy, in her second race of the season. Her 18:38.6 for fifth at the IMGA Summit Challenge is still the mark, worth about 18:47; Saturday was a minute slower in Cecil Field terms. Third to fifth, and it is the result, not the clock: a loss to Roy stands until the two meet again. She beat Middleton at the Summit and holds that.
6. Taylor Geraghty, Holy Trinity, 8th grade
Won the 1A-2A race at the Spanish River Invitational in 18:50.7 out of 301, 29 seconds ahead of Claire Chanon of Cardinal Gibbons 2A, with her sister Kelly fourth. Spanish River reads about half a minute fast for girls, so the run is worth about 19:24 at Cecil Field, and it is a win, so it cannot lower her figure. Cecil Field 20:38.0, Indian River 20:38.5, Astronaut 19:42.7, Spanish River 18:50.7: each race better than the last, by a lot. Sixth is a call. Kaitlyn Conboy beat her at Cecil Field in August, 20:07 to 20:38, and the rule alone would put Conboy above her; we are ranking the September form and saying so, and the call expires the day they meet again.
7. Alexandra Middleton, Indian Rocks Christian, Jr.
Seventh at the North Port Invite elite race in 19:16.0 out of 144, and Indian Rocks Christian was seventh in the team race behind her. North Port reads fast, so the run levels to about 19:56, on the same line as her tenth at the IMGA Summit and third at Seffner Christian; three races on three courses, all within 20 seconds of each other once leveled. Ninth to seventh, and she stays above Bergin on the Seffner Christian finish, third to fourth by seven seconds. Akella beat her at the Summit, and that still stands.
8. Brianna Bergin, Carrollwood, Sr.
Third at the Nature Coast Shark Invitational in 19:25.0, 16 seconds behind Ella Pope of Sunlake 4A, with Pope's teammate Ana Cecilia Maia Menard between them. Nature Coast reads close to Cecil Field, so the run is worth about 19:33, on the line with her 17th at the Horse Park in 19:27.5. Seventh to eighth: Middleton beat her at Seffner Christian and Middleton moved up, and that finish orders the two until they meet again. A senior; she beat Grace Dorn at the Horse Park, and Dorn is fourteenth.
9. Emily Del Mazo, Community School (Naples), 7th grade
Did not race; Community School sent three girls to North Port without her. The Cape Coral win in 20:08.7, which is not counted, and second at Fort Myers in 20:37.2 behind Webb are her two varsity races, both on courses that run slow, and both level to about 19:30 to 19:55. A seventh grader running varsity. Eighth to ninth as Middleton went by; the only girl here she has raced is Webb, who beat her.
10. Rachel Judy, Master's Academy (Oviedo), Sr.
Did not race; nothing since DeLand on September 5. The Trinity Prep win in 20:40.1 on a slow course, worth about 19:17 and not counted, and second at DeLand in 19:49.1 on a fast one, worth about 20:20. A senior on two races with no meetings against anyone above her. Tenth, where she was.
Just missed
Kelly Geraghty (Holy Trinity, Fr.) is first out: fourth in the 1A-2A race at Spanish River in 19:29.6, 39 seconds behind her sister, and Holy Trinity has the sixth name on this page and the first one off it. Abigail Cooper (Tampa Bay HEAT, So.) was seventh at the Raider Open in 19:54, a run we could not price. Kaitlyn Conboy (Circle Christian, 7th grade) won the Bulldog Invitational in 22:33.5 on a course that runs nearly three minutes slow for girls; the win is not counted, and she is thirteenth with the Cecil Field result over Taylor Geraghty still on her card. Grace Dorn (South Florida HEAT, So.) was third at Spanish River in 19:26.7, between the two Geraghtys. Avery Gervais (Master's Academy (Oviedo), Jr.) won the Lion's Invitational in 21:29.2 on a course that reads a little slow.
Emma Akhundjanov (Providence, So.), first out a week ago, did not race and is outside the fifteen as the girls around her raced past.
How we ranked them
- Courses do not all run the same speed, so we do not compare raw times. Cecil Field is the yardstick; for other meets we use runners who raced both that course and last year's state meet to work out what a time was worth.
- A runner is ranked on her whole season, weighted toward the most recent race: this week counts five times, last week four, week three three times, week two twice, opening weekend once. A race she won is never allowed to lower that figure.
- A head-to-head loss stands until the two runners meet again, whatever either has run elsewhere since. Where results form a loop, the most recent meeting decides, and a newer chain of results outranks an older direct one. One placing on this list is a call and not a rule outcome: Taylor Geraghty sixth over Kaitlyn Conboy, who beat her at Cecil Field in August. It is flagged in her entry and expires the day they meet.
- Runners who have not opened are ranked on last November and marked (P). A missed week is never held against anyone.
- Grades and classes are 2026-27, resolved against the FHSAA classification documents.
- The Raider Open is not rated this week: the girls who ran it and last year's state meet give two readings far apart, so Wilkinson's 18:29.7 and Cooper's 19:54 are on the record and not priced. Spanish River, North Port and Katie Caples all read fast against Cecil Field; raw times fell across the state and leveled figures moved much less.
