Florida Class 1A girls cross country through four weeks: August 21-September 12, 2026
The top four did not race. Mary Summers, Emma Wilkinson, Naeha Akella and Charlotte Roy are where they were, and the movement is behind them. Joanie Webb of Donahue Academy, a freshman, won the Fort Myers XC Invite out of 205 in 20:07.5 by 30 seconds, worth about 19:25 on a slow day, and moves from tenth to fifth. She has raced twice and won twice. Emily Del Mazo of Community School of Naples, a seventh grader, was second to her in 20:37.2 and is eighth on two varsity races; her Cape Coral win three weeks ago was listed under a longer spelling of her name and the two are now one runner. Taylor Geraghty of Holy Trinity, an eighth grader, was fifth at Astronaut in 19:42.7, a minute better than her August, and is seventh. Kylie Cook of All Saints', also an eighth grader, won the JT Memorial varsity race on Friday in 19:04.2 by 78 seconds; we priced that course cautiously and she is fourteenth on three races.
A runner is ranked on her whole season, with the most recent race counting most, and a race she won never counts against her. As always, this is data plus judgment, and we will miss somebody along the way. A (P) next to a name means that runner has not opened yet and we are going on last November. How we sorted everybody out is at the bottom. Races are not won until the kids have run. Enjoy.

1. Mary Summers, Seven Rivers Christian, So.
Has not raced since Whispering Pines on August 29. The Lecanto win in 18:32.9 and fourth at Whispering Pines in 18:39.3 are still the best two races by a 1A girl this season, and two weekends off are not held against her. First for a fourth week, six seconds clear of Wilkinson.
2. Emma Wilkinson, Lakeland Christian, Jr.
Did not race. Third at Ragin' Storm in 19:37.2, the Lake Region win in 18:57.7, which is not held against her, and 18:28.3 for second at St. Cloud behind Arabella Duffell, the fastest raw time by a 1A girl this fall. Three races, each better than the last, and she has not run in two weeks.
3. Naeha Akella, St. Stephen's Episcopal, Sr.
Did not race. Fifth at IMG's Summit Challenge in 18:38.6 on a course that reads a touch fast, worth about 18:47, in her only race. She ran 19:40.2 at state last fall, so that was a minute better in one September morning. Third on it.
4. Charlotte Roy, All Saints', 8th grade
Did not race; All Saints' ran the JT Memorial without her. Second at the Kowboy in 19:14.4 and third at St. Cloud in 18:28.5, two tenths behind Wilkinson. An eighth grader, and fourth in the class on two races.
5. Joanie Webb, Donahue Academy, Fr.
Won the Fort Myers XC Invite out of 205 in 20:07.5, 30 seconds ahead of Emily Del Mazo, on a course that ran about 40 seconds slow by the girls who have also run state; leveled, that is about 19:25. Her Lehigh win in 19:42.8 on opening weekend is not held against her. Two races, two wins, and a freshman goes from tenth to fifth. Her parents are Alan Webb, who held the American mile record for 16 years, and Julia Webb, a national steeplechase champion, and both coach at Ave Maria University.
6. Brianna Bergin, Carrollwood, Sr.
Did not race. 19:27.5 for 17th at the Horse Park in her only race, worth about 19:32. A senior who ran 20:22.2 at state last fall. Seventh to sixth on one race.
7. Taylor Geraghty, Holy Trinity, 8th grade
Fifth at the Astronaut Invitational in 19:42.7, worth about 19:01 on a slow course, after 20:38.0 at Cecil Field and 20:38.5 at Indian River. Fifty-six seconds better on the clock than anything she had run, and Holy Trinity won the team race behind her. An eighth grader, new to the ten at seventh.
8. Emily Del Mazo, Community School (Naples), 7th grade
Second at Fort Myers in 20:37.2 behind Webb, two weeks after winning the Cape Coral Seahawk Invite outright in 20:08.7. Her Cape Coral win was listed under a longer spelling of her name and the two are one runner now. A seventh grader who is also fifth on the middle school list. Eighth here on two varsity races.
9. Rachel Judy, Master's Academy (Oviedo), Sr.
Did not race. The Trinity Prep win in 20:40.1, worth about 19:17 on a slow course, and second at DeLand in 19:49.1 on a fast one. She ran 18:46.6 at state last fall, the best returning time in the class, and neither race this year has been within half a minute of it. Ninth, where she was.
10. Emma Akhundjanov, Providence, So.
Did not race. 19:43.0 for 29th at Cecil Field and 19:58.5 for 34th at the Horse Park, two races that agree. A sophomore who ran 20:18.6 at state last fall. New to the ten at tenth.
Just missed
Alexandra Middleton (Indian Rocks Christian, Jr.) is first out on 19:55.9 for tenth at IMG's Summit Challenge. Kelly Geraghty (Holy Trinity, Fr.) was eighth at Astronaut in 20:25.0, worth about 19:43, and is twelfth; the two Geraghty sisters are the reason Holy Trinity is first on the team list. Kylie Cook (All Saints', 8th grade) won the JT Memorial varsity race on Friday night in 19:04.2, 78 seconds clear, 83 seconds better than she had ever run; we priced that course cautiously, at about 30 seconds fast, and she is thirteenth on three races. Sofia Boussouf (Classical Academy of Sarasota, So.) is on 19:39.5 at North Port. Avery Gervais (Master's Academy, Jr.) was third at DeLand.
Noelle Richardson (Westminster Academy, Sr.) and Clara Thiessen (Canterbury, Sr.), sixth and eighth a week ago, are out of the ten; Thiessen ran 21:34.2 at Fort Myers.
How we ranked them
- Courses do not all run the same speed, so we do not compare raw times. Cecil Field is the yardstick; for other meets we use runners who raced both that course and last year's state meet to work out what a time was worth.
- A runner is ranked on her whole season, weighted toward the most recent race: this week counts four times, last week three, week two twice, opening weekend once. A race she won is never allowed to lower that figure.
- Where two ranked runners have raced each other and neither has raced since, the finish orders them. A real result within a few seconds of a projection outranks the projection.
- Runners who have not opened are ranked on last November and marked (P). A missed week is never held against anyone.
- Grades and classes are 2026-27, resolved against the FHSAA classification documents.
- The JT Memorial girls' sample reads more than two minutes fast because four of its seven runners have improved two to five minutes since November; it was priced at the least generous of the other three, about 30 seconds fast.
