Florida Class 3A girls cross country through four weeks: August 21-September 12, 2026
Katelin Wilcox and Lyla Hallick did not race, and the order at the top is what it was a week ago for the reason it was: Wilcox beat Hallick by two seconds at Cecil Field and neither has run since. On the arithmetic Hallick is first in the class and Wilcox is eleventh. Call it a toss-up that the head-to-head breaks. Annabella Tomasic sat and is third. Camila Giles of Bishop Kenny opened her season by winning the Buchholz Bobcats Classic out of 163 in 18:37.2, 33 seconds clear, and goes in at fourth. Olivia Davis of Satellite was fourth at Astronaut in 19:39.6, worth 18:58 on a slow course, and is seventh. Emma Poekert of Cypress Creek won Land O' Lakes by nearly two minutes in 18:48.2, a win that is not held against her, and is eleventh by half a second behind Ashton Dahlem. Taylor Lawhon of Bishop Kenny, sixth a week ago on a projection, raced: sixth at Buchholz in 19:57.7.
A runner is ranked on her whole season, with the most recent race counting most, and a race she won never counts against her. As always, this is data plus judgment, and we will miss somebody along the way. A (P) next to a name means that runner has not opened yet and we are going on last November. How we sorted everybody out is at the bottom. Races are not won until the kids have run. Enjoy.

1. Katelin Wilcox, East Lake, Sr.
Did not race. 18:35.0 for third at Cecil Field, the fastest raw time by a 3A girl on a neutral course this fall, and 19:37.7 for second behind Katherine Eudaly at Parker Valby, a bad day on a fast course. On the arithmetic she is eleventh in the class. She is first because she beat Hallick by two seconds the only time they raced, the only girl who has beaten her is ranked fifth in Florida, and neither she nor Hallick has run since. Call it a toss-up that the head-to-head breaks. The first time either of them races, the numbers get their say.
2. Lyla Hallick, Vanguard (Ocala), So.
Did not race. Three races, each faster: 18:37.0 at Cecil Field, 18:25.4 at Whispering Pines, 18:22.5 for second at the Horse Park, six seconds ahead of the 3A champion. The best body of work in the class and the best season figure, 18:30. Second on the Cecil Field finish and nothing else.
3. Annabella Tomasic, Bishop Moore, So.
Did not race. The 3A champion's only run is 18:28.4 for third at the Horse Park, behind Gaona-Zelaya and Hallick, on a course she won as a freshman in 17:33. Third, on one race, and one good day from the top.
4. Camila Giles, Bishop Kenny, Jr.
Won the Buchholz Bobcats Classic out of 163 in 18:37.2, 33 seconds ahead of Allison Austin of Atlantic Coast 4A, in her first race of the season. Buchholz reads about even for girls, so the run stands as about 18:38, and it puts her fourth. Fifth in 2A at state last November in 18:48.1, in the race Bishop Kenny won before its move up to 3A.
5. Lydia Vincent, Zephyrhills, Sr.
Did not race. Second at Lecanto in 18:40.7, third at Whispering Pines in 18:34.1, and a Grayling Memorial win in 18:40.0 by a minute and 46 seconds on a course we could not rate. Three races within seven seconds of each other on the clock. Fourth to fifth as Giles went in above her.
6. Lainee Mercer, Springstead, Jr.
Did not race. Second at Ragin' Storm in 19:11.3, worth about 18:36, and fourth at the Horse Park in 18:40.6, 37 seconds behind Gaona-Zelaya. Fifth to sixth.
7. Olivia Davis, Satellite, Fr.
Fourth at the Astronaut Invitational in 19:39.6, worth about 18:58 on a slow course, behind Gaona-Zelaya, McMenemy-Hoang and Vignier, two weeks after winning the Indian River Fairgrounds meet in 19:50.2, a win that is not held against her. A freshman, new to the ten at seventh.
8. Kaia Ables, Chiles, Sr.
Was entered at Nights of Thunder and the varsity race was called off. 18:59.0 for 11th at Cecil Field is her only run, and it has held eighth for two weeks.
9. Emma-Claire Tanenbaum, Chiles, So.
Was entered at Nights of Thunder and the varsity race was called off. 18:48.0 for sixth at Cecil Field and 19:00.2 for seventh at the Horse Park. Seventh to ninth as Giles and Davis came in, on two races that both say 19:00.
10. Ashton Dahlem, Gulf Breeze, Sr.
Did not race. The Pace Patriot win in 19:49.7 by 75 seconds, on a slow course, worth about 19:03, in her only race. She ran 18:35.8 at state last fall. Ninth to tenth.
Just missed
Emma Poekert (Cypress Creek, Jr.) is first out by half a second. She won Land O' Lakes on Saturday in 18:48.2 by nearly two minutes, her fourth race, and the win is not held against her; Jim Ryun, Whispering Pines and the Horse Park all read about 19:00. Tenth to eleventh without a bad race. Ella Valentina Valenzuela (Bishop Moore, Jr.) was 11th at the Horse Park in 19:05.6. Jillian Jakab (Bishop Kenny, Sr.) was third at Buchholz in 19:20.4 in her opener. Lauren Susnis (Bishop Moore, Sr.) was 16th at the Horse Park. Cecelia Lear (Mount Dora, Jr.) was fourth at St. Cloud in 19:12.4.
Taylor Lawhon (Bishop Kenny, Sr.), sixth a week ago on a projection, raced: sixth at Buchholz in 19:57.7, and the projection is gone.
How we ranked them
- Courses do not all run the same speed, so we do not compare raw times. Cecil Field is the yardstick; for other meets we use runners who raced both that course and last year's state meet to work out what a time was worth.
- A runner is ranked on her whole season, weighted toward the most recent race: this week counts four times, last week three, week two twice, opening weekend once. A race she won is never allowed to lower that figure.
- Where two ranked runners have raced each other and neither has raced since, the finish orders them. A real result within a few seconds of a projection outranks the projection.
- Runners who have not opened are ranked on last November and marked (P). A missed week is never held against anyone.
- Grades and classes are 2026-27, resolved against the FHSAA classification documents.
