Second in the Championship race at PR'ville in Huntsville on Saturday in 17:33.5 out of 271. PR'ville has no Florida reading we trust, so the time is printed and not converted. Won Cecil Field in 17:53.0 and St. Cloud in 17:38.5. Third.

Second of 271 in the Championship race at On Twilight at PR'ville in Huntsville in 17:33.5, 8.5 seconds behind Addy Cotter of Baylor School, and the fastest time of her season. We did not put a number on the Huntsville course: only five Floridians who ran it also ran last November's state meet, from two schools, and they disagree. The run is on the record, not in her figure. Won Cecil Field and St. Cloud, and has beaten Hartley, Wilcox and Hallick. She and Gaona-Zelaya have not met.

Won Cecil Field in 17:53.0 on opening night and St. Cloud in 17:38.5 by 50 seconds, worth about 17:51 at Cecil Field, and beat Hartley, Brown, Austin, Delaney and Godfrey in Jacksonville. Two weeks without a race, and none of it is held against her. Third, where she was; the Muller and Gaona-Zelaya figures are about ten seconds better, and none of the three has raced the others.

A missed week is not held against her. Gaona-Zelaya's fourth win simply rates a little better than Duffell's second, and they are ten seconds apart on the season. The two of them and Muller are the 4A race in November.

Won St. Cloud out of 151 in 17:38.5, 50 seconds ahead of Emma Wilkinson of 1A, on a course that is a shade quick. On neutral ground it lands right on top of the 17:53.0 she ran at Cecil Field on opening night. Two races under 17:55 on two courses. Ninth in 4A at state in 18:36.6, and a different runner now.

Won the St. Cloud Invitational out of 151 in 17:38.5, 50 seconds ahead of Emma Wilkinson, and it is the fastest time of her season. St. Cloud is a shade quick, so on neutral ground it is worth about 17:50, right in line with the 17:53.0 she ran at Cecil Field on opening night. Two races under 17:55 on two different courses. Nobody else in the top ten has done that, and the two girls ahead of her have not raced each other since last fall.

Still first on one race, because the race was that good. Her 17:53.0 at Cecil Field is the only sub-18:00 run in Florida this season that needed no conversion, no caveat and no course rating, and she won it from behind in the deepest field in the state. Lake Nona raced the Kowboy Invitational in week two; Duffell did not make the trip. The number holds without her lifting a finger, but three of the four girls behind her raced this week, and the margin for sitting still is thinning.

The only girl in Florida to break 18:00 this season and the only one who did it without a conversion. 17:53.0 at Cecil Field, out of 343, won from behind after letting Avery Hartley go early — a 43.6-second improvement on the 18:36.6 that put her ninth in 4A last November. Lake Nona ran the Kowboy Invitational in week two; Duffell did not. One race, and it is still the best one anybody has run.

She won the Cecil Field Girls Elite race in 17:53, and there is no honest way to read that as anything but the performance of the weekend in Florida. Duffell was ninth in 4A at state last fall in 18:36.6. She just ran 43 seconds faster in August, on an evening the average returner in that field gave back nearly half a minute. Net of the seasonal gap, that is roughly 17:24 in November terms — a 72-second projection forward.

She did it against the state runner-up. Avery Hartley was 20 seconds back in second. Katelin Wilcox of East Lake, Lyla Hallick of Vanguard and Emma-Claire Tanenbaum of Chiles were all more than 40 seconds behind. Lake Nona does not rank as a team, so Duffell spends the fall running for herself, and on this evidence she is the fastest girl in Florida regardless of class.

The only girl in Florida under 18:00 this fall, and the biggest single-race statement of the weekend. Duffell was ninth in 4A last November in 18:36.6. At Cecil Field she let Avery Hartley go, spent the second half closing a thirty to forty meter gap, took the lead with 800 to run and won in 17:53. That is a 43.6-second improvement on a course that graded honest and in air that graded anything but. She ranks second because she has actually done it this year.
