Eighth in 1A at state as a freshman in 19:21.8, the third-fastest returning mark in the class, and she did not open. Indian Rocks Christian projects second in 1A as a team, so this is a program with something to lose by staying home and no apparent worry about it.
Lubke's problem is arithmetic, not ability: a 19:21.8 from November converts to 19:50.6 in August terms, and four girls who actually raced beat that mark this weekend. She may well be the second-best runner in 1A. She has not been asked to demonstrate it.
