Florida Class 2A girls cross country through five weeks: August 21-September 19, 2026
Selah Vignier of West Shore, a junior, ran 18:36.3 for second at the Rockledge Raider Classic on Friday night, 26 seconds behind Lyla Hallick of Vanguard 3A, the fastest time by a 2A girl this fall on a course that reads close to Cecil Field. First for a fifth week, and she has not lost to a 2A girl: Sofie Stam of Bolles at Cecil Field, Esther Dobbin of Cocoa Beach at Rockledge, Julianna Hart of Ransom Everglades at Astronaut.
Daniela Hernandez of Carrollton, a senior, is second on one race, Pine Crest on August 28, where she beat Claire Chanon, Giuliana Serra and Gabriella Socarras; Carrollton ran the Spanish River Race of Champions without her. Chanon and Serra of Cardinal Gibbons, a junior and a senior, met again on Friday in the 1A-2A race at Spanish River, second and fifth, 19:19.3 to 19:30.4, and the most recent meeting decides: Chanon third, Serra fourth. Serra has the better season figure after her win at BCAA Week Three at Markham Park, a course that runs more than two minutes slow, but a loss stands until they meet again.
Holland McKinney of Episcopal, a sophomore, was fourth at the Katie Caples Invitational in 18:56.0 and beat her teammate Stella Krueger, a junior, who was second a week ago. Krueger had beaten Socarras at the Horse Park and Socarras had beaten McKinney there; that older direct result gives way to the newer chain, so McKinney seventh, Krueger eighth, Socarras tenth. Kate Brice of Episcopal, third a week ago on last November's time, opened at Katie Caples in 19:38 for 14th and drops out. This is data and judgment, and we will miss somebody.
A runner is ranked on her whole season, with the most recent race counting most, and a race she won never counts against her. As always, this is data plus judgment, and we will miss somebody along the way. A (P) next to a name means that runner has not opened yet and we are going on last November. 1. Selah Vignier, West Shore, Jr.
Second at the Rockledge Raider Classic in 18:36.3 out of 76, 26 seconds behind Lyla Hallick of Vanguard 3A and 14 clear of Cierra Mills, on a course that reads within a few seconds of Cecil Field; the run is worth about 18:44 and is the best of her four. Eighth at Cecil Field in 18:55.0, the Kowboy win that is not counted, third at Astronaut, Rockledge. She beat Dobbin at Rockledge by 55 seconds, Stam at Cecil Field and Hart at Astronaut. First, with West Shore second in the team race behind her.
2. Daniela Hernandez, Carrollton, Sr.
Did not race; Carrollton won the Class 2A scoring of the Spanish River Race of Champions without her. Second at Pine Crest out of 325 in 19:16.7 on August 28, ahead of Chanon, Serra and Socarras, is her only race, worth about 19:13 at Cecil Field, and three weeks without a start are not held against her. Fourth to second on that finish over the two Cardinal Gibbons girls, which stands until they meet again.
3. Claire Chanon, Cardinal Gibbons, Jr.
Second in the 1A-2A race at the Spanish River Invitational in 19:19.3 out of 301, 29 seconds behind Taylor Geraghty of Holy Trinity 1A, and Cardinal Gibbons won the 2A scoring with 44. Spanish River reads about half a minute fast for girls, so the run is worth about 19:53; fourth at Pine Crest in 19:27.6 is her only other race. Sixth to third on the head-to-head: she beat Serra on Friday, Serra's season figure sits above Stam's, and the finish carries Chanon above both. Hernandez, who beat her at Pine Crest, stays in front.
4. Giuliana Serra, Cardinal Gibbons, Sr.
Fifth in the 1A-2A race at Spanish River in 19:30.4, eleven seconds behind Chanon, three days after winning BCAA Week Three at Markham Park in 21:04.6 out of 48. Markham runs more than two minutes slow for girls, so that win levels to about 18:56, and it is her best figure. Eighth to fourth: on figure alone she would sit above Chanon and Stam, but Chanon beat her on Friday and the loss stands until they meet again. She has beaten Socarras, Tessa Brown and Hart.
5. Sofie Stam, Bolles, So.
Did not race; the Bolles varsity has not run since Cecil Field on August 21. 19:20.0 for 21st that night, 25 seconds behind Vignier, is her only race, and four weeks off are not held against her. She beat Tessa Brown and Rebecca Lee at Cecil Field. Fifth, where she was, and Vignier is the only girl above her she has met.
6. Esther Dobbin, Cocoa Beach, 8th grade
Seventh at the Rockledge Raider Classic in 19:31.1, 55 seconds behind Vignier, in her fourth race. The Cocoa Beach win in 20:28.2 is not counted, sixth at St. Cloud in 19:25.7, sixth at Astronaut in 19:59.7 on a slow course, and Rockledge: every one of the four levels between about 19:18 and 19:38. An eighth grader racing varsity; she beat Hart at Astronaut and Lee at Rockledge, and Vignier is the only girl on this list who has beaten her. Seventh to sixth as Krueger slipped.
7. Holland McKinney, Episcopal, So.
Fourth at the Katie Caples Invitational elite race in 18:56.0 out of 99, behind Annabella Tomasic, Camila Giles and Jillian Jakab, all 3A. Katie Caples reads about half a minute fast for girls, so the run is worth about 19:26; 23rd at the Horse Park in 19:39.0 is her only other race. First out a week ago, seventh now: she beat Krueger by 32 seconds on Saturday, Krueger had beaten Socarras at the Horse Park, and that chain outranks Socarras's older result over her at the same meet. Episcopal was fourth in the team race behind her.
8. Stella Krueger, Episcopal, Jr.
Twelfth at the Katie Caples Invitational in 19:28.0, 32 seconds behind McKinney, on a course that reads fast; the run is worth about 19:58, and her 19:05.3 for tenth at the Horse Park is still the better figure. Second to eighth, and it is one result: a loss to a teammate stands until they meet again, whatever the season figures say. She beat Socarras at the Horse Park, and that still holds, which is why Socarras sits below her.
9. Lily Ghavami, Berkeley Prep, Jr.
Fifth at the North Port Invite elite race in 19:03.3 out of 144, and Berkeley Prep won the team race with 72. North Port reads fast, so the run levels to about 19:43, level with her seventh at Whispering Pines in 19:34.0 on August 29. Two races three weeks apart, both worth about the same. Ninth, where she was, with no meetings against anyone on this list; she beat Lauren Murphy at Whispering Pines, and Murphy is twelfth.
10. Gabriella Socarras, Carrollton, Sr.
Sixth in the Spanish River Race of Champions in 19:24.9 out of 152, the first Carrollton girl home as they won the Class 2A scoring with 61. Spanish River reads fast, so that is worth about 19:58; her 15th at the Horse Park in 19:25.4 is the better figure. Ninth at Pine Crest, the Horse Park, the Race of Champions: three races, and tenth, where she was. She beat McKinney at the Horse Park, but Krueger beat her there and McKinney beat Krueger on Saturday, and the newer chain outranks the older direct result. Hernandez, Chanon and Serra all beat her at Pine Crest.

Julianna Hart (Ransom Everglades, Fr.) is first out: seventh in the 1A-2A race at Spanish River in 19:40.3, and Ransom was third in the 2A scoring behind her; she has lost to Vignier, Dobbin, Chanon, Serra and Brown, and a loss stands. Lauren Murphy (Trinity Catholic, Jr.) was fourth at the Nature Coast Shark Invitational in 19:54.0 on a course that reads close to Cecil Field. Rebecca Lee (Edgewood, So.) was eighth at Rockledge in 20:01.6 behind Vignier and Dobbin. Madison Easton (Oasis, Jr.) is fourteenth. Tessa Brown (Cardinal Newman, Jr.) was sixth at Spanish River in 19:35.6, behind Chanon and Serra, and Cardinal Newman was second in the 2A scoring.
Kate Brice (Episcopal, Jr.), third a week ago on last November's time, was 14th at Katie Caples in 19:38 in her opener and is outside the fifteen.
How we ranked them
- Courses do not all run the same speed, so we do not compare raw times. Cecil Field is the yardstick; for other meets we use runners who raced both that course and last year's state meet to work out what a time was worth.
- A runner is ranked on her whole season, weighted toward the most recent race: this week counts five times, last week four, week three three times, week two twice, opening weekend once. A race she won is never allowed to lower that figure.
- A head-to-head loss stands until the two runners meet again, whatever either has run elsewhere since. Where results form a loop, the most recent meeting decides and a newer chain of results outranks an older direct one. A real result within a few seconds of a projection outranks the projection.
- Runners who have not opened are ranked on last November and marked (P). A missed week is never held against anyone.
- Grades and classes are 2026-27, resolved against the FHSAA classification documents.
- Three placings on this list come from the head-to-head rule rather than the figure: Chanon over Serra (Spanish River), McKinney over Krueger (Katie Caples), and Hernandez over Chanon and Serra (Pine Crest). None is a call; each expires the day the pair meet again.
- Spanish River ran a 1A-2A class race and a Race of Champions on the same course. Chanon, Serra, Brown and Hart were in the class race and Socarras in the Race of Champions, so none of them met Socarras on Friday.
- BCAA Week Three at Markham Park runs more than two minutes slow for girls; Serra's 21:04.6 win there levels to about 18:56. Rockledge and Nature Coast read within a few seconds of Cecil Field; Spanish River, Katie Caples and North Port all read fast.
