Florida Class 2A girls cross country team rankings through three weeks: August 21-September 5, 2026
Episcopal and Carrollton met at the Florida Horse Park on Saturday, in a 67-team race, and Episcopal was fourth with 215 and Carrollton eighth with 275. Both were projections a week ago. Both now have a result, and the result puts Episcopal first. Carrollton still has the best season average in the class by 25 seconds a runner, and a 1:05 spread, and the virtual race has them first; they were 60 points behind Episcopal on the grass, without Daniela Hernandez, who was their No. 1 at Pine Crest a week earlier and did not score in Ocala.
Bolles is third on the Cecil Field run from August 21 and has not raced since. Montverde Academy opened at the Horse Park, finished 13th, two places ahead of Berkeley Prep, and is fourth on that result. Cardinal Newman won the Dr. Garcia Bulldog Invite over Spanish River and moved from eighth to sixth. Cardinal Gibbons, seventh a week ago on a projection, raced and is 21st.
Starting this week a team is ranked on its whole season, with the most recent race counting most, and a meet it won never counts against it. The virtual race behind these scores contains only Class 2A teams, so a team's place here and on the statewide list can differ. As always, this is data plus judgment, and we will miss somebody along the way. They won the Pine Crest meet on August 28 with 42, Hernandez first for them in 19:16.7, then finished eighth at the Horse Park with 275: Gabriella Socarras 19:25.4, Eva Martinez-Lejarza 20:01.7, Antonia Beltran 20:20.2, Lauren Martinez-Lejarza 20:38.5, Alexandra Prado 21:59.8. Hernandez and Paola De La Iglesia did not score on Saturday, and their Pine Crest marks are still in the five below. The virtual race has them first. Episcopal beat them by 60 points, and until they meet again, that is the order.

Thirteenth at the Horse Park with 448 in their first race: Lyla McMillen 19:56.5, Amaris Munya 20:17.0, Angelica Wolfe 20:59.8, Alafair Scelfo 21:33.5, and then Federica Perez at 23:35.8. They finished two places and 45 points ahead of Berkeley Prep in that race, which puts them ahead of Berkeley here, and the rule carries them past Cardinal Newman and Ransom Everglades as well, neither of whom they have raced. The virtual race has them seventh on a 3:39 spread. This is the placement on the page we would argue with first.
5. Berkeley Prep (Tampa): 203 points

Cocoa Beach, 15th, was sixth at St. Cloud; Esther Dobbin is the No. 8 individual in the class and the second girl is 2:29 behind her. Cardinal Gibbons, 21st, was seventh a week ago on a projection; Claire Chanon and Giuliana Serra are the No. 6 and No. 7 individuals in the class and the third girl is 3:33 behind Serra. Gulliver Prep, 18th, was 30th at the Horse Park.

How we ranked them
- Every mark is converted to a Cecil Field equivalent through the runners who ran both that course and last year's state meet. The girls' field ran about half a minute slower in August than at state, and that is removed before a course is rated.
- Each runner is scored on her whole season, weighted toward the most recent race: this week counts three times, last week twice, opening weekend once. A race she won never lowers that figure, and a meet a team won never lowers the team's. A school's five best runners on that basis are its team.
- Those five, with a sixth and seventh where they exist, go into one virtual race against every other Class 2A team and are scored the way cross country is scored: top five count, sixth and seventh displace, five finishers required, low score wins. 78 2A girls teams cleared the bar; 0 of them are projections. Scores climb every week as more teams enter and are not comparable to last week's; compare the order and the averages.
- Where two teams in this class raced each other this week with at least three of their scoring seven, the team that won ranks ahead of the team it beat. Those moves are listed above.
- A team whose returning five have not raced is entered on last November's state times and marked (P). A returner who has raced for another school this season is not projected at the old one.
