Ransom Everglades won the Palmer Trinity Invitational and this list had them fourteenth, because the rating on that course was 79 seconds too generous on the girls' side. Re-scored, they are fourth, and the two tightest raced fives in Class 2A belong to them and Bolles.
Updated August 31: this list has been re-scored. The course rating for the Palmer Trinity Invitational was wrong on the girls' side, and Ransom Everglades — who won that meet — was ranked fourteenth on it. They are fourth. The explanation is below.
Florida Class 2A girls cross country team rankings through two weeks: August 21-29, 2026
Two weekends of racing and the top three of Class 2A girls are unchanged, with two of them still not having entered a meet. Episcopal and Carrollton are first and second on what their returners ran last November. Bolles, third, is the only team in the top three that has run a step.
Fourth is Ransom Everglades, and they are the reason this page was rewritten. Ransom won the Palmer Trinity Invitational on August 27 with 25 points. The first version of this list ranked them fourteenth, because the rating we put on that course was 79 seconds too generous to it. Fixed, their race is the fourth-best team result in Class 2A.
How that rating went wrong, since it is the kind of mistake worth showing. A course is priced off the runners who raced it and also ran the 2025 state meet. Eleven girls at Palmer Trinity had also run the 2025 state meet, and they read the course as 115 seconds slow. Seven boys ran the same course the same day and read it as 164 seconds slow. A course cannot be fifty seconds kinder to girls than to boys — and on nearly every other course this season the girls' reading is the slower of the two, usually by thirty to ninety seconds. No other course in Florida came out more than nine seconds the other way. Palmer Trinity came out backwards by forty-nine.
The reason is that six of those eleven girls carried 2025 state times between 24:40 and 28:58 and have improved enormously since — one ran 25:32 in August off a 28:58 state mark, a 3:26 improvement that measures the runner and not the ground. Take the five whose November time is a fair reference, all of whom ran state between 20:27 and 21:54, and the course reads +170 seconds. Scaling the boys' figure the way we do when a girls' sample fails lands at +189 to +197. We published the more conservative of those, +170, which is the girls' own measured number.
A warning about the scores. There were 39 scoreable teams in this class a week ago. There are 62 now. Bigger field, bigger place numbers, bigger scores. Compare the order and the five-girl averages, not the points.
As always this is data plus judgment, and we will miss somebody along the way. A (P) beside a team means it did not put five runners on a rateable line and is entered on what its returners ran last November. How we sorted it all out is at the bottom. Races are not won until the kids have run. Enjoy.
About the times. Every mark below is the time the runner actually ran that day. The number in parentheses after it is what that time is worth at Cecil Field, which is what the scoring uses. On a neutral course — Cecil Field itself — there is only one number. A projected team's marks are its runners' 2025 state times.

1. Episcopal — 76 points — (P)
Kate Brice 18:36.8, Graziana Gowdy 19:08.9, Holland McKinney 19:27.2, Stella Krueger 19:44.4, Audrey Brice 20:12.6 on projection, with Eve Sauvageau 20:26.3 as a sixth. Projected average 19:54.8, spread 1:35.8, finishing 1-6-12-23-34 in Class 2A.
The fifth-best team in the state on this board, across all classes. Nobody in 2A has a five-girl average within twenty seconds of theirs, and Kate Brice is the fastest 2A girl on any scoreable team. They have not raced. They are entered at the Florida Horse Park on Saturday, and until they run, everything on this page is provisional in a way the boys' 2A list is not.
2. Carrollton — 118 points — (P)
Daniela Hernandez 18:45.2, Gabriella Socarras 19:17.3, Emma Filippi 20:10.7, Antonia Beltran 20:16.7, Paola De La Iglesia 20:21.3 on projection. Projected average 20:15.0, spread 1:36.1, finishing 2-9-32-37-38.
Second a week ago, second now, and also unraced. Their three-through-five come through inside eleven seconds of each other, which is either a genuinely level squad or three girls who happened to run the same race in November. The sixth is 96th. They are at the Horse Park Saturday, in the same field as Episcopal, which makes Saturday the most important day of the 2A girls season so far.
3. Bolles — 157 points
Cecil Field, average 20:34.0, spread 2:06.0, finishing 4-28-29-42-54, with the sixth and seventh at 58th and 59th. Sofie Stam 19:20.0, Kavya Patel 20:30.0, Palmer Edwards 20:31.0, Valentina Bouras 21:03.0, Eliana Bruneau 21:26.0, then Lila McGowan and Peyton Hoover tied at 21:31.0.
Still the best raced team in Class 2A, third for the second week running, and the only team in the class with seven girls inside 21:32. They brought eighteen to Cecil Field. If Episcopal and Carrollton are not what November said they were, Bolles is the 2A favorite.
4. Ransom Everglades — 236 points
Palmer Trinity, August 27, where they won the meet with 25 points and put thirteen girls on the course. Converted average 21:08.1, spread 2:06.6, finishing 26-30-35-53-92 in the class. Julianna Hart 23:17.8 (20:27.6), London Ross 23:21.2 (20:31.0), Alessandra Dominguez 23:33.4 (20:43.2), Victoria Garcia-Pinochet 24:14.7 (21:24.5), Amelia Gonzales 25:24.4 (22:34.2).
Look at the raw times and then at the converted ones, because that is the whole argument. Nobody on that course broke 23:00, and Ransom went one-two-three. Ransom's front three came through inside sixteen seconds of each other, and their 2:06.6 spread is six tenths of a second off Bolles's — the two tightest raced fives in the class top ten belong to these two teams.
Their five-girl average is fifth-best in 2A and they are fourth on points, which is the reverse of Berkeley Prep behind them: Ransom's fourth and fifth finish 53rd and 92nd, Berkeley's finish 89th and 116th. Twentieth in Florida across all classes. They are not entered at the Horse Park, so the next read on them is the following weekend.
5. Berkeley Prep — 244 points
Berkeley was fourth on projection a week ago; at Whispering Pines they posted a converted 21:02.9 average on a 3:24.0 spread, finishing 7-13-19-89-116.
Lily Ghavami 19:34.0 (19:39.2), Molly Taylor 19:51.2 (19:56.4) and Alex Louie 20:01.5 (20:06.7) gave them three girls in the class's top nineteen inside 28 seconds — the best front three in 2A that is not a projection. Then Spencer Mischen at 89th and Hayden Tingue at 116th. Their first three are worth 39 points and their last two are worth 205. They are at the Horse Park Saturday.
6. Montverde Academy — 267 points — (P)
Lyla McMillen 19:15.3, Alafair Scelfo 19:40.3, Federica Perez 20:44.4, Amaris Munya 22:05.8, Alon Scelfo 22:14.9 on projection. Projected average 21:16.9, spread 2:59.6.
Fifth to sixth, unraced — the girls, like the boys, have not entered a meet. They are at the Horse Park Saturday, where a single result replaces all of this.
7. Cardinal Gibbons — 279 points — (P)
Claire Chanon 19:29.7, Molly Murphy 19:33.4, Allison Albrect 19:48.9, Giuliana Serra 21:34.7, Sofia Licata 23:23.0 on projection. Projected average 21:14.7 — better than Montverde's — on a 3:53.3 spread, the widest in this top ten.
Sixth to seventh. Three girls inside 19:49 and then three and a half minutes to the fifth. It is the same shape as Berkeley Prep's raced result, which is a reasonable argument that the projection is at least the right kind of wrong.
8. Cardinal Newman — 310 points
Cecil Field, average 21:37.2, spread 2:39.0, finishing 17-48-51-95-99. Tessa Brown 20:04.0, then Vicki Burkly 21:16.0 and Lucy Burkly 21:24.0, Elisa Kate Stroup 22:39.0, Lily Kissel 22:43.0.
Seventh to eighth, and they did race in week two — they took five girls to the Indian River Fairgrounds and two of them finished outside 27:00, so the board still uses Cecil Field. That kind of entry usually means a JV lineup, and it is why we score a school's best single meet rather than its most recent one.
9. West Shore — 326 points
Kowboy Invitational, converted average 21:35.6, spread 3:43.2, finishing 3-41-67-104-111. Selah Vignier won the Kowboy and is the No. 1 individual in Class 2A; Elliana Falls 20:51.7 (21:01.6), Emma Mika 21:40.5 (21:50.4), Anisha Chityal 22:40.8 (22:50.7), Harper Richardson 22:49.3 (22:59.2).
Better than their Cecil Field race by 7.2 seconds a girl, and better in a way that matters more than the number: at Cecil their two-through-five ran 21:16, 22:33, 22:44, 23:06, and at the Kowboy they ran 20:51, 21:40, 22:40, 22:49. Everybody behind Vignier moved. Under both stress tests below they and Calvary Christian Academy swap places.
10. Calvary Christian Academy (Fort Lauderdale) — 329 points
Jim Ryun, converted average 21:41.3, spread 2:59.2, finishing 25-43-61-70-130. Harper Thomerson 21:08.1 (20:21.0), Reese Burnham 21:51.4 (21:04.3), Victoria Lima 22:28.5 (21:41.4), Lois Johnson 22:46.8 (21:59.7), Victoria Clark 24:07.3 (23:20.2).
Ninth to tenth, three points behind West Shore, having done nothing wrong. Four girls inside the first seventy of the class and no runner in the top twenty: this is the most evenly built team in the bottom half of this top ten, and under both stress tests below it moves to ninth.
Just missed
11. Gulliver Prep, 360 (P). Out of the top ten on the re-score, and still unraced — like the Gulliver boys, they have not entered a meet in two weeks. They are at the Horse Park Saturday. Their sixth runner projects at 244th in the class, the thinnest margin behind any team near this top ten.
12. Coral Springs Charter, 381 — a 2:08.0 spread at Cecil Field, third-tightest among the raced teams in the class top fourteen, behind Bolles and Ransom Everglades. 13. Cocoa Beach, 410. Esther Dobbin, an eighth grader, won her own school's Tuesday-night meet by 2:39 and is the No. 5 individual in 2A; her team's second girl is 73rd. 14. Wolfson, 423.
How much of this is the courses?
More than we would like, as the top of this page now demonstrates. Four of this top ten are projections, and a projection does not move when you change a course rating — but Ransom Everglades moved ten places on one.
Swing every remaining disputed rating to the other end of its range and the only change in the top ten is Calvary Christian Academy and West Shore trading ninth and tenth. Take the week-two courses 7.2 seconds less generously — the size of the measured week-one-to-week-two drift for girls — and you get that same swap and nothing else. The top eight hold in every version.
What will move this board is Saturday: Episcopal, Carrollton, Montverde, Gulliver Prep and Berkeley Prep are all entered at the Florida Horse Park, on a course we can rate as well as any in Florida. Four of the five have not raced yet this season.
How this works
Every August mark is converted to a Cecil Field equivalent using the runners who raced both that course and the 2025 state meet, matched on name and school. Each school is entered on its five fastest converted times from its single best meet — not a mix-and-match of its best days. Those five, and the sixth and seventh where they exist, are dropped into one virtual race against every other Class 2A team and scored the way cross country is scored: top five count, sixth and seventh displace, five finishers required, low score wins.
Because the field is Class 2A only, these scores are not the ones on the statewide team board. A team's rank there and here can differ: the statewide list scores it against 273 teams, this one against 62.
A school that did not field five runners on a rateable course — or that fielded five without at least two of its returning top-five scorers — is entered on its returning five's 2025 state times plus the August constant of 28.8 seconds, which is how much slower the girls' field ran in August than at the state meet. Those teams are marked (P). Five returners with state times are required, so a program with four cannot be ranked at all. Six of the twenty-nine courses run in the first two weeks could not be rated against the state meet, and results from them are not in these numbers. Classifications are the FHSAA's finalized 2026-27 lists.
