Florida Class 1A girls cross country team rankings through three weeks: August 21-September 5, 2026
Oak Hall was first a week ago on the tightest five in the class. At the Florida Horse Park on Saturday they were 19th with 516, three points behind Providence, and their fourth and fifth girls ran 2:41 and 1:07 slower than they had at Whispering Pines. Providence beat them, so Providence is ranked ahead of them, and both are behind two teams that did not race at all.
Holy Trinity is first without racing since August 29, because their 1:15 spread and 21:17 average held up while the teams around them moved. Westminster Academy is second on the best season average in the class. All Saints' was second at St. Cloud behind Lake Nona and jumped from ninth to fifth. Indian Rocks Christian opened at the IMG Summit Challenge, finished second to IMG Academy, and the projection that had them third is replaced by a race that puts them eighth.
Starting this week a team is ranked on its whole season, with the most recent race counting most, and a meet it won never counts against it. The virtual race behind these scores contains only Class 1A teams, so a team's place here and on the statewide list can differ. As always, this is data plus judgment, and we will miss somebody along the way. A (P) beside a team means it has not put its returning five on a starting line and is entered on what they ran last November. How we sorted it out is at the bottom. About the times. The average on each line is the season figure the scoring uses, in Cecil Field terms. The time next to each runner is what she actually ran in her most recent race that counts; the figure in parentheses is what it is worth at Cecil Field. A projected team's marks are its runners' 2025 state times.

The 1:14.9 spread is the second-tightest of any raced team in the class and the whole reason a team that averages 21:17 is first. Second to first while sitting out.

Noelle Richardson ran 19:30.9 at Pine Crest on August 28, the No. 6 mark in the class this season, and did not race this week; Reese Richardson 21:45.3 and Lauren Sauer 22:49.1 ran the Miami Country Day meet on Tuesday, where the team was second. Avery Carvell and Isla Oles fill the five from Pine Crest. Fourth to second, and the 2:56 spread is the gap between the two Richardsons.
3. Providence (Jacksonville): 253 points

Nineteenth at the Horse Park with 516. Reese Allen 20:39.1, Lola Murfee 20:46.6 and Macie Bell 21:14.3 were all faster than at Whispering Pines. Natalie Kay ran 20:16.3 there two weeks ago and 22:57.2 in Ocala; Madeline Kay went from 21:31.4 to 22:38.9. First to fourth on those two runs. The five that ran Whispering Pines inside 79 seconds is still the best five in the class if it shows up again.
5. All Saints' (Winter Haven): 238 points

The projection said the five would average about 21:17; the race said 21:53 on a course that runs quick, and the 3:42 spread is what moved them from third to eighth. 11. Maclay, 407, was 33rd at the Horse Park; Madison McVay 20:58.2 led them and Lilly Bell's 21:42.0 from Cecil is still their second mark. 12. Seacoast Collegiate, 413, was third at the Pace Patriot Invitational with 109, three girls inside 22:20 and three races each. 13. Master's Academy of Vero Beach, 421, is a projection on Rachel Judy's 19:15 from last November and has not raced. 14. True North, 463, has not raced since Palmer Trinity.
Lakeland Christian, 15th, has Emma Wilkinson, the No. 2 individual in the class, and a 6:23 spread behind her; they were seventh at St. Cloud. St. Stephen's Episcopal, 20th, has Naeha Akella, the No. 3 individual, and was third at the IMG Summit. Seven Rivers Christian, with Kelsey Summers, the No. 1 individual in Class 1A, cannot field a scoreable five.
Where the virtual race disagrees with this list
- Providence (Jacksonville) over Oak Hall (Gainesville): 18th and 19th at Horse Park. Oak Hall has the better average by six seconds a runner and the virtual race has them third. Providence beat them by three points at the Horse Park.
How we ranked them
- Every mark is converted to a Cecil Field equivalent through the runners who ran both that course and last year's state meet. The girls' field ran about half a minute slower in August than at state, and that is removed before a course is rated.
- Each runner is scored on her whole season, weighted toward the most recent race: this week counts three times, last week twice, opening weekend once. A race she won never lowers that figure, and a meet a team won never lowers the team's. A school's five best runners on that basis are its team.
- Those five, with a sixth and seventh where they exist, go into one virtual race against every other Class 1A team and are scored the way cross country is scored: top five count, sixth and seventh displace, five finishers required, low score wins. 74 1A girls teams cleared the bar; 5 of them are projections. Scores climb every week as more teams enter and are not comparable to last week's; compare the order and the averages.
- Where two teams in this class raced each other this week with at least three of their scoring seven, the team that won ranks ahead of the team it beat. Those moves are listed above.
- A team whose returning five have not raced is entered on last November's state times and marked (P). A returner who has raced for another school this season is not projected at the old one.
