Madison Muller holds first in Class 4A, Alba Antunez-Perez won the Snake Bite Invite, and Avery Hartley won HMT in Gainesville and stays sixth.

Florida Class 4A girls cross country through eight weeks: August 21-October 10, 2026

The FSU Pre-State Invitational, the biggest meet of the fall, was canceled for Hurricane Isaias, so most of the state sat out the weekend. Nobody here is marked down for a race they could not run.

The 4A ten does not change. Alba Antunez-Perez of Spanish River won the Snake Bite Invite in Boca Raton in 18:29.9, 22 seconds ahead of Nicole Lewis of Doral, and Spanish River won the team race. Avery Hartley of Bartram Trail won HMT in Gainesville in 19:01.6, 14 seconds ahead of Eva Delaney of Creekside; HMT reads slow, so the run counts for a lot, and it says her 21:17 at Speziale was an off day. Eva McMenemy-Hoang of Viera won the Merritt Island Christian Invitational.

Madison Muller, Natalia Gaona-Zelaya, Arabella Duffell and Katherine Eudaly did not race and hold the top four.

A runner is ranked on her whole season, with the most recent race counting most, and a race she won never counts against her. This is data plus judgment, and we will miss somebody along the way. How we sorted everybody out is at the bottom.

The statewide lists: week 8 girls top 10 and week 8 boys top 10. Last week's version of this list is here. The other class lists this week: 4A boys, 1A girls, 2A girls, 3A girls.

Recovery

Leg recovery without the four-figure price.

QUINEAR air compression boots do what the expensive systems do, a slow squeeze up the legs after a hard race or long run, at a price a lot more families can manage. A good fit for the two-meets-a-week stretch of October.

6. Avery Hartley, Bartram Trail, So.

Won HMT on Saturday in 19:01.6 out of 119, 14 seconds ahead of Delaney, with Peyton Cerasi third. Won Bale-N-Trail Elite on September 26 in 18:17.5. Jackson and Holland beat her at the Showcase on September 19; keeping her above them is our call, the same one as on the statewide list.

7. Lola Jackson, Niceville, Fr.

Did not race. Second at the Wildcat Invitational on October 3 in 20:34.0, crossing with her teammate Anais Almonte. Eleventh at the Southern Showcase on September 19 in 18:56.9, ahead of Holland and Hartley. A freshman.

8. Harmony Holland, Niceville, Jr.

Did not race. Twelfth at the Showcase on September 19 in 18:58.2, behind Jackson and ahead of Hartley.

9. Eva McMenemy-Hoang, Viera, Sr.

Won the Merritt Island Christian Invitational on Saturday in 18:46.2 out of 105, ahead of Rachel Judy of 1A. Won the flrunners.com Race of Champions on October 3 in 18:53.3.

10. Elise Brown, St. Thomas Aquinas, So.

Did not race. Won King of the Hill on September 10 in 19:15.7. A sophomore.

Just missed

Eva Delaney (Creekside, So.) was second to Hartley at HMT on Saturday in 19:15.6. Nicole Lewis (Doral Academy, Jr.) was second to Antunez-Perez at Snake Bite in 18:51.5. Avalyn Thompson (Lake Brantley, Sr.) has won all three of her races. Peyton Cerasi (Matanzas, Jr.) was third at HMT. Analyse St John (Lennard, Fr.) won the Don Bishop Invitational on October 3.

Up next

Most of the state's top teams race this weekend at the New World Fall Spectacular, October 16-17 at Cecil Field in Jacksonville. Next week's lists will lean heavily on it.

How we ranked them

  • Courses do not all run the same speed, so we do not compare raw times. Cecil Field is the yardstick; for other meets we use runners who raced both that course and last year's state meet to work out what a time was worth.
  • A runner is ranked on her whole season, weighted toward the most recent race: this week counts eight times, last week seven, and so on back to opening weekend, which counts once. A race she won is never allowed to lower that figure.
  • A head-to-head loss stands until the two runners meet again, whatever either has run elsewhere since. Where results form a loop, the most recent meeting decides. A runner who beat someone ranked above her moves up to that runner's spot.
  • Head-to-heads from September 12 and earlier no longer order runners. Those races are a month old, and kids have changed since. The times still count in the season figure.
  • The FSU Pre-State Invitational, the biggest meet of the fall, was canceled for Hurricane Isaias. Nobody is marked down for a race they could not run.
  • A missed week is never held against anyone.
  • Grades and classes are 2026-27, resolved against the FHSAA classification documents.
  • Hartley sixth, above Jackson and Holland, who beat her at the Showcase, is a call, the same as on the statewide list.
  • HMT is priced at the boys' reading times 1.21, our house rule, because the girls' own reading was out of line with it.

Every result behind this list is in the rankings section, and the full weekend is in the weekend recap.
