Bishop Kenny moves to first in the Class 3A girls team rankings over Bishop Moore on depth, Chiles won the flrunners.com Race of Champions by 56 points, and Ponte Vedra won Speziale.
Florida Class 3A girls cross country team rankings through seven weeks: August 21-October 3, 2026
Updated October 4: this list first had Bishop Moore first and Bishop Kenny second on their Katie Caples meeting. We have flipped them. The reasoning is in the next paragraph and in the notes at the bottom.
Chiles won the Race of Champions at the flrunners.com Invitational with 48, 56 points ahead of Lourdes, with Emma-Claire Tanenbaum third and Kaia Ables ninth. It stays third: it has not met Bishop Moore or Bishop Kenny's varsity since early September.
Bishop Kenny moves to first over Bishop Moore. Moore beat Kenny 62 to 63 at Katie Caples on September 19, and last week we gave Moore the benefit of the doubt on that head-to-head. Kenny's depth is going to prove dangerous in a more crowded race than Katie Caples: that was an 11-team race, and even there Kenny had six runners in before Moore's fifth. When there are 32 teams on the line, Kenny's fifth runner, 19:25 on the season, is a minute clear of Moore's fifth at 20:26. Kenny's varsity ran the Nike XC Town Twilight Race of Champions in Terre Haute, Indiana, on Saturday, 16th of 44, with four season bests behind Camila Giles. Moore stays second, ahead of Chiles, which it has not met. Ponte Vedra won its own Craig Speziale Invitational with 30, 16 points ahead of Vanguard, and is fourth, directly above Vanguard. Vanguard ran without its No. 2, Cierra Mills, and with her the front of the race would have been close. We are keeping Ponte Vedra ahead as our call, and the reason is the fifth runner. Ponte Vedra's No. 5, Layann Issa, ran 21:11.5; Vanguard's No. 5, Anya Bryniarski, ran 22:20.0, 69 seconds back, and all seven Ponte Vedra runners finished ahead of her. As the fields get bigger in October, the fifth spot decides more team races, and that is too much daylight to rank Vanguard ahead.
A team is ranked on its whole season, with the most recent race counting most, and a meet it won never counts against it. A team that sat out the weekend is not marked down for it. The virtual race behind these scores contains only Class 3A teams, so a team's place here and on the statewide list can differ. As always, this is data plus judgment, and we will miss somebody along the way. A (P) beside a team means it has not put its returning five on a starting line and is entered on what they ran last November. How we sorted it out is at the bottom.
About the times. The average on each line is the converted season figure the scoring uses, in Cecil Field terms, and so are the times beside each runner's name. Times in the write-ups are what the kids actually ran that day; the race log for every runner is on the rankings page.
The statewide lists: Week 7 girls team top 10 and Week 7 boys team top 10. The 3A girls individuals are here, and last week’s edition of this list is here. The other classes this week: 3A boys, 1A girls, 2A girls, 4A girls.

Where the virtual race disagrees with this list
- Ponte Vedra over Vanguard: 1st and 2nd at the Craig Speziale Invitational, and neither has raced its top runners since.
- Estero over Aubrey Rogers: 2nd and 8th at the North Port Invite, and neither has raced its top runners since.
- Bishop Moore over Chiles: Bishop Moore over Chiles carries from last week: the two have not met, and Moore's Hagerty win (24 points, Tomasic by 96 seconds) and its point over Kenny at Katie Caples keep it ahead of Chiles on body of work.

How we ranked them
- Every mark is converted to a Cecil Field equivalent through the runners who ran both that course and last year's state meet.
- Each runner is scored on her whole season, weighted toward the most recent race: this week counts seven times, last week six, and so on back to opening weekend, which counts once. A race she won never lowers that figure, and a meet a team won never lowers the team's. A school's five best runners on that basis are its team.
- Those five, with a sixth and seventh where they exist, go into one virtual race against every other Class 3A team, scored the way cross country is scored. 92 3A girls teams cleared the bar; 0 of them are projections. Points climb as more teams enter and are not comparable to last week's; compare the order.
- Where two teams in this class have raced each other with at least three of their scoring seven, the team that won ranks ahead of the team it beat until they meet again. Where results go round in a circle, the newest meeting decides. A race run without a team's No. 1 or without two of its scoring five is not held against it.
- New this week: results from September 12 and earlier no longer order teams. The times still count in the figures.
- A team whose returning five have not raced is entered on last November's state times and marked (P).
- Classes are 2026-27, resolved against the FHSAA classification documents.
- Updated October 4: Bishop Kenny over Bishop Moore is our call, and it reverses the first version of this list. Moore won their only meeting, 62 to 63 at Katie Caples on September 19, in an 11-team race where Kenny still had six runners in before Moore's fifth. Kenny's fifth runner is a minute clear of Moore's fifth on the season, and in a 32-team field that minute is a lot of places. Kenny's girls at Speziale were a second group, and its varsity's race in Indiana on Saturday had no Florida team in it. Moore stays second, ahead of Chiles, on body of work.
- Ponte Vedra over Vanguard is our call: Vanguard ran Speziale without its No. 2, Cierra Mills, but Ponte Vedra's No. 5 finished 69 seconds ahead of Vanguard's, and all seven Ponte Vedra runners were ahead of Vanguard's fifth. The bigger the field, the more the fifth runner matters.
Every result behind this list is in the rankings section, and the full weekend is in the weekend recap.
