The course is 2.5 miles; we convert those times to a 5K and price the course like any other. Won Bale-N-Trail on September 26 with 41. Second in the virtual race, third here behind Nease.

Won the Race of Champions at the flrunners.com Invitational on October 3 with 86, 25 points ahead of Tavares. Seventh, ahead of Flagler Palm Coast: a team that sat out is not passed on a few points of figure by a team it has not met.

Ran the Manhattan University Invitational in the Bronx on Saturday in Varsity Boys C, one of six varsity sections, at 2.5 miles: third of 25 teams with 123. Douglas Seth was fourth in 13:08.2, Mateo Almeida ninth in 13:17.1 and Dylan Ciardi 26th in 13:39.9. We convert those times to a 5K (16:04 for Seth) and price the course like any other. Eighth, behind Fort Myers, which holds its place.

Won the Snake Bite Invite on Saturday with 58, six points ahead of Braddock and 19 ahead of Doral, with Nicholas Garcia fourth in 15:40.8 and Jose Luis Cordero and Lundin Steven behind him. It beat both of the teams it trailed on September 18. Tenth.
Just missed
Braddock (4A) was second at Snake Bite with 64, six points behind Columbus, and is 12th; it won the Larry Wooten Invitational on September 26 with 23. Leon (3A) did not race; 11th. Lake Minneola (4A) won the Wildwood Invitational on Saturday with 17 points and Quentin Thompson first in 16:19.0; 13th. Doral Academy (4A) was fourth at Snake Bite with 77 and is 14th. Spanish River (4A) was third there with 71. Tavares (3A) did not race. Newsome (4A) won the Don Bishop Invitational on October 3 with 47. Buchholz (4A) won HMT in Gainesville with 52, a day we are treating as a workout, not a race.
Where the virtual race disagrees with this list
- Ponte Vedra over Vanguard: 1st and 2nd at the Craig Speziale Invitational, and neither has raced its top runners since.
- Nease over Bolles: Our call: Nease was third of 40 at Roy Griak and seventh of 40 in the Race of Champions at the Great American, and no Florida team but Belen has beaten its full varsity; it also beat Bolles at Cecil Field, 158 to 236. Bolles is ahead in the virtual race.
- Fort Myers over Flagler Palm Coast: Fort Myers holds seventh: its top three did not run this weekend, and Flagler Palm Coast's Manhattan run puts it 14 points ahead on the figure, not enough to pass a team it has not met.
Method notes
- A team only counts as having raced when at least three of its season top seven ran. Ponte Vedra's and Fort Myers's second groups at JAC and Bulldog do not count as meetings.
- Head-to-head results from September 12 and earlier no longer order teams. The times still count in the figures.
- Out-of-state teams at the Great American XC Festival, the Alexander Invitational and the Manhattan University Invitational are left out of the course readings and the virtual race. Florida teams' places among the full field are printed as they finished.
- The Manhattan University Invitational is a 2.5-mile course: its times are converted to a 5K, and the course is priced from the Florida runners who also ran last year's state meet (updated October 11). Buchholz's runs at HMT on October 10 are treated as a workout, not a race.
- Not rated: the Wolfson 9.2 Meet. The Snake Bite Invite reads 57 seconds fast, so its times are leveled down before they are used.
- Columbus over Braddock and Doral is the engine's order, and it replaces the old Class 4A scoring call from the Spanish River Race of Champions: the two meetings reversed, and the newest decides.
- Points are a virtual-race sum over more than 90 scored teams and move every time a new file enters the pool; compare order and averages, not points, week to week.
