Ansin Sports Complex is South Florida's championship track. High school teams from Broward and Miami-Dade race here in the spring, the local college programs hold invitationals here, youth clubs fill it in the summer, and it has hosted national meets from the Pan American Junior Championships to the U.S. Paralympic Team Trials. This guide covers where it is, what the track is like, which meets are held here, and what to know about parking and race day.

Location and Getting There

The complex is at 10801 Miramar Boulevard, Miramar, FL 33025, in southwest Broward County. Put the street address in your maps app rather than just "Miramar," because Miramar Boulevard and Miramar Parkway are different roads. Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International (FLL) and Miami International (MIA) are the closest airports for teams flying in.

The City of Miramar Parks and Recreation Department owns and runs the complex. It opened in February 2009 on land and money donated by brothers Ron and Edmund Ansin, owners of Sunbeam Television and WSVN, in memory of their parents, Sophie and Sidney Ansin.

The Track

The stadium is built around a 400-meter Mondo Super X 720 track with an eight-lane oval, a nine-lane straightaway and gray exchange zones, installed in a full renovation in early 2024. It holds World Athletics Class 2 certification, a standard only a handful of U.S. outdoor tracks meet, which is why national championships keep coming back.

  • Running events: sprints, hurdles, relays and distance races, plus a steeplechase setup.
  • Jumps: high jump, pole vault, long jump and triple jump.
  • Throws: shot put, discus, hammer and javelin.
  • Stands: seating for more than 5,000 spectators.
  • Infield: a grass football and soccer field.

Off the track, the 24-acre property has a 9,000-square-foot community center, a weight room, locker rooms with showers, concession stands, three outdoor basketball courts, a netball court, cricket batting cages and a covered playground.

Is There a Cross Country Course at Ansin?

No. Ansin is a track and field stadium, and Broward County cross country meets are run in the county parks instead: Tradewinds, Heritage, Markham and Quiet Waters host the weekly BCAA and MSAA races. There is no XC course rating for Ansin because nobody races cross country here. For the state cross country course, see our Apalachee Regional Park guide.

Meets and Events Held at Ansin

The track season at Ansin runs from late February into the summer, with something on most spring weekends. The regulars:

  • High school: FHSAA Region 4 meets (Classes 3A and 4A ran here on May 8, 2024), conference championships, and the NSU University School invitationals.
  • College: Nova Southeastern University's Shark Invitational (March 28, 2026, with ten South Florida programs).
  • Pro and open: the Miramar Invitational each April, run by TC Management with tickets through Ticketmaster.
  • Youth: AAU district and Region 10 qualifiers in June, plus summer club series.
  • Masters: the USATF Florida Association Open and Masters Track and Field Championships (June 6, 2026).

Championship History

  • 2011: Pan American Junior Athletics Championships.
  • 2019: USATF U20 Outdoor Championships.
  • 2022: National Senior Games track and field (the photo above is the men's 50-54 800 meters).
  • 2024: U.S. Paralympic Team Trials, Track and Field, July 18-20.
  • 2025: Grand Slam Track Miami, May 2-4, the second stop of the league's first season.

Parking, Facilities and Spectator Tips

The complex has its own parking lots on site. At the 2024 Paralympic Team Trials, parking was free for athletes and spectators on a first-come, first-served basis. Each meet sets its own admission and parking rules, so check the meet flyer or ticket page before you go.

  • Restrooms and lockers: locker rooms with showers are in the main building.
  • Food: concession stands are on site; on big meet days, pack your own food and water too.
  • Shade: the grandstand had shade canopies at the 2022 Senior Games (see the photo above), but the infield, the throws area and the team camps are in full sun. Bring a pop-up tent if your team has one.

Race-Day Tips for Runners and Parents

  • Heat: Miramar is hot and humid from April on, and afternoon sessions on a dark track get hotter still. Hydrate the day before, wear a hat between events and keep a cooler at the tent.
  • Storms: summer meets stop for lightning. A delay can push the schedule back an hour or more, so keep an eye on the radar and the meet announcer.
  • Arrive early: give yourself 30 to 60 minutes for parking and check-in on big invitational days.
  • Check in on time: at the USATF Florida meets, athletes check in 30 minutes before their event. Most high school meets publish their own clerking times in the meet packet.
  • Results: high school and college meets here post results on TFRRS or MileSplit; youth meets usually post with the timer.

Can You Run on the Ansin Track?

Yes, outside of meets and rentals. Miramar residents use the track free with ID, and non-residents pay $3. The complex is open 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday and 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday. Unauthorized group training is prohibited: clubs and teams need a city permit. Rentals go through the facility office at (954) 602-4990.
