The A1A Marathon Course

Flat and fast, with long stretches of open ocean views on A1A. The course is USATF certified (FL23005JK) and counts as a Boston qualifier. It stays open six hours, from 6 a.m. to noon, so walkers are welcome. After noon, anyone still out can finish on the sidewalk.

The risk is heat. February mornings are usually in the 60s, but the sun is up by the second half and there is little shade on the beach. That is why the start is so early. Train on the same stretch: our best places to run in Fort Lauderdale guide covers the A1A beachfront path, Las Olas and the Riverwalk.
