When is the 2026 FHSAA cross country state meet?

The 2026 FHSAA cross country state championships are on Friday, November 20, 2026, at Apalachee Regional Park in Tallahassee, with all four classes (1A to 4A) racing 5K that day. Runners get there through district meets on November 2 to 7 and region meets on November 11 to 14. At each round the top eight teams and the top four individuals not on those teams move on.

2026 State Championships

  • Date: Friday, November 20, 2026
  • Course: Apalachee Regional Park, 7550 Apalachee Pkwy, Tallahassee
  • Races: eight 5K races, boys and girls in Classes 1A, 2A, 3A and 4A. Race order and times come from the FHSAA in its coaches packet.
  • Tickets: GoFan only. In 2025 they were $13 in advance and $16 on the day, with parking included.

How Qualifying Works

The state series has three rounds, and every round is split by classification and by gender. Schools are placed in 1A to 4A by enrollment, with eight districts per class grouped into four regions: Districts 1 and 2 feed Region 1, Districts 3 and 4 feed Region 2, Districts 5 and 6 feed Region 3, and Districts 7 and 8 feed Region 4.

  • District to region: the first eight teams, plus the top four individuals who are not on one of those teams.
  • Region to state: the first eight teams, plus the top four individuals not on an advancing team. With four regions, that is 32 teams and 16 more individuals in each state race.
  • Teams: five to seven runners race. Fewer than five finishers means no team score, but those runners can still qualify as individuals.
  • Entries: up to 15 athletes per school on the postseason entry, due October 30. Only runners on that list, with at least four regular-season meets, can race.
  • Substitutes: a team can swap in a runner from its entry list at region or state. The substitute cannot win individual honors.

Frequently Asked Questions

When is the 2026 FHSAA cross country state meet?

Friday, November 20, 2026, at Apalachee Regional Park in Tallahassee. All eight races, boys and girls in Classes 1A through 4A, are run that day.

How do you qualify for the FHSAA cross country state meet?

Through two rounds. At the district meet, the first eight teams and the top four individuals who are not on one of those teams advance to the region meet. At the region meet, the same rule sends eight teams and four more individuals to state. There is no time standard and no at-large entry.

How many runners can a team bring to the state series?

A school lists up to 15 athletes on its postseason entry, which was due October 30, 2026, and runs five to seven of them in each race. A team needs five finishers to get a team score. A runner must have raced at least four regular-season meets to be entered.

Can a team swap runners between districts, regions and state?

Yes. A runner who advanced as part of a qualifying team can be replaced in the lineup by a substitute from the postseason entry, but the substitute cannot win individual honors at the later meet.

How much are tickets to the FHSAA cross country state meet?

In 2025 tickets were sold only on GoFan, $13 in advance and $16 on the day, with the park parking fee included. The FHSAA posts the 2026 ticket details on its cross country page in the week before the meet.

Where can I find FHSAA district and region cross country results?

Each meet on this page links to full results and team scores in the Run Florida Run cross country database once they are posted, usually within a day or two.
