Fifty-ninth in the Great American Race of Champions in 15:50.8, among 340 of the best runners in the country. Eleventh at the Southern Showcase in 15:15.7, still the fastest time by a 1A boy this year, ahead of Barton. Tenth on the statewide list.

Fifty-ninth in the Race of Champions in 15:50.8, behind Ishee, Sides and Veloso, which is why they are above him. Eleventh at the Showcase in 15:15.7, still the fastest time by a 1A boy this year, ahead of Seth, Olson, Rodbro and Kiros; that keeps him above all four.

Eleventh in the Southern Showcase championship race in Huntsville on September 19 in 15:15.7, out of 250, the fastest time by a 1A boy this fall and worth about 15:41 at Cecil Field. He beat Barton by 36 seconds there. He also won Coach Hope on September 12 in 16:42.7. On Saturday he ran the Bale-N-Trail grade race alongside a seventh-grade teammate, 21:25, and we do not count that kind of run. Sixth statewide, and first here until Ferguson beats him.

Ran 21:25.0 in the Bale-N-Trail 11th-12th grade race on Saturday beside a seventh-grade Providence teammate. That was not a race, and it is not counted. Eleventh at the Showcase in 15:15.7, the fastest time by a Class 1A boy this year, ahead of Seth, Rodbro, Olson and Kiros. Strombeck, Reed Hagen and Brody Johnson beat him at Cecil Field in August; all three finished behind Kiros that night, and Cunningham beat Kiros by 21 seconds at the Showcase. Up a place with Howdeshell out.

Eleventh of 250 in the Southern Showcase championship race in 15:15.7, worth about 15:41 at Cecil Field, ahead of Barton in 31st. A week earlier he won the Coach Hope Invitational in 16:42.7 out of 91, 41 seconds clear of John William Martin of Fernandina Beach 2A, and that win is not held against him. He opened with 16:23.0 for 34th at Cecil Field, eight places behind Arterburn, and that is the one result on this list that runs against him. First on a call: the rule would keep Arterburn above him, we are ranking the Huntsville run, and the call ends the day they meet.

Eleventh in Huntsville in 15:15.7, the fastest time by a Class 1A boy this year by 36 seconds. Thirty-fourth at Cecil Field in 16:23.0, won the Coach Hope Invitational in 16:42.7 a week ago. He beat Seth by five seconds on Saturday and both Rodbro and Olson. Howdeshell, Thompson and Michalak all have wins over him. Seventh, above Seth on Saturday's result, and above Kiper on seven races between them to Kiper's one.

Won the Coach Hope XC Invitational out of 91 in 16:42.7, 41 seconds ahead of John William Martin of Fernandina Beach 2A, with Providence teammates Trace Crowley and Merrick Meyer fourth and fifth. The course reads about 7 seconds slow, so it is worth 16:36, 13 seconds slower leveled than his 16:23.0 for 34th in the Cecil Field elite race; a win never lowers a runner's figure, so Cecil is still the run that ranks him. He ran 15:47.8 at state last fall, the fastest returning time in the class by twenty seconds. Third, where he was.

The 1A state runner-up at 15:47.8, the fastest returning mark in the class, and still sitting on the 16:23.0 he ran at Cecil Field on opening night. He has not raced since. Two weeks ago that was enough for first. Now two boys have raced past it, and Cunningham needs a start line.

Two weeks in, still first, still on one race. Cunningham owns the fastest returning mark in the class, the 15:47.8 that made him 1A runner-up last November, and his only 2026 result is the 16:23 he ran at Cecil Field after going out with the fastest boy in Florida and paying for it late. We said after week one that he gets one race of the benefit of the doubt and not two. He has not used the second one yet.

He will on Saturday. Providence is entered at the Florida Horse Park Invitational, on the course where Cunningham finished third last September in 15:36.4. Same grass, honest course, real field. Whatever this ranking should be, we will know by Saturday afternoon.

Runner-up in 1A at state in 15:47.8 — the fastest returning mark in the class by more than nineteen seconds, and the only sub-16:00 any returning 1A boy owns. He opened at Cecil Field in 16:23 for 34th in the Boys Elite race, which is eight seconds behind David Barton and 35 seconds off his own November time.

He is ranked first anyway, and the reason is what the race looked like: Cunningham went out with Armando Cruz, the fastest boy in Florida, and paid for it over the last mile. That is a choice, not a decline, and the boys' zero-second August conversion means his 15:47.8 needs no discounting to still be the best number in this class. He gets one race of benefit of the doubt. He does not get two.
